    Ireland:
    R Kearney, S Horgan, B O'Driscoll, L Fitzgerald, T Bowe, P Wallace, I Boss, B Young, R Best, M Ross, B Casey, M O'Kelly, S Ferris, S Jennings, J Heaslip.
    Replacements: B Jackman, T Court, R Caldwell, N Best, F Murphy, J Sexton, G Dempsey.

Strong lineup, and our first game coming into the Summer tour.

It will be interesting to see how Fitz plays in the centre, and I suspect that even though he's wearing 12, we'll see him at outside centre with BOD at inside. Notable players to watch include Ross, Casey, Ferris and Jennings.

I expect the whole bench to be used, and ideally Sexton to get at least 20mins.

I would have liked to see sexton get a start but hopefully he gets some meaningful game time!!

Dropping Sexton for his first cap at 10, is not the safest option, and that's what Bradley has done.

Realistically this is the only gametime Wallace will get all summer.

Sexton is heading to the Churchill Cup, and will play all the games there - barring injury.

It should be a good game, the BaaBaa's last game against South Africa was an absolute cracker.

Agreed. When they get to New Zealand he should get plenty of game time. It's his chance to start putting pressure on O'Gara

Who can play with the barbarians. Is it certain countries or what are the conditions for playing with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Its an invitational club, so they approach players about playing for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

They also try to have one uncapped player in every team they field. and each baba plays in his club socks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

    I do like those :)

This brings back flashbacks to the Baba's SA game - probably the most amazing "rugby as a spectacle" matches i've ever been to. Purely beautiful.

I'm a little worried about this evening.. theres potential there in the loosies and behind the scrum, but I think the tight 5 will be a overpowered... too pondersome looking: lacks ball carrying ability, scrummaging power and impact in the tight IMO. Although at least our lineout should be supreme once the throwing is good.. Would have liked to see Jackman start this, hope to see him coming on early.

If we get a game half as good as that we'll be in for a treat..I thought the Barbarians was an outmoded anachronism prior to that game, never happier to be proved utterly wrong. Weather horrendous over here at the moment...Kingsholm could be a swamp, which'll be a shame...

Suits them if it is a swap they have a front 3 that iv yet see off load or pass ever this year. Visagie is going to cause some troubles for this Irish scrum.

Who is the uncapped player for this tour? Also, it seems Jerry Collins is in the Baa Baas squad now.

Don't think Peter Hewitt (AUS) or Glen Jackson(NZ) have any senior caps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,772 ✭✭✭toomevara

I know he's to feature in the England game...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Coverage starts at 7.30 on RTE, strangely billed as an International Rugby Friendly.

I'd say Collins must be wrecked having travelled over yesterday?

    Anyway, Ireland by 5

O'Driscoll has pulled out due to personal reasons. Gavin Duffy replaces him.

Thats a shame. Going to be a terrible midfield combo now.

Wallace not looking bad either. Might be down to having the space to play it than anything else.

Spoke WAAAY too soon Stev_o, that was a disgraceful line out.

Edit: quick lineout taken by Ireland resulting in a try?!? my god.

    =P

Great try and as you said Wallace is having a great game so far good distribution running and kicking maybe he's playing well because the coach has faith in him

Lots of space, and having a playmaking 10 makes the difference, that and the 3 Leinster wingers ;)

    Scrappy and loose but enjoyable.

Some great interlinking and heads up play.

Oh I know he is, he grew up near me.

I meant that Kearney/Fitz/Shaggy are the 3 Leinster wingers.

Another try under the posts from Shaggy, nice try fest of a game, shame only 5,000 showed up. If this was at the RDS it would be a full house.
