American Dad gets my vote, Stan or Roger are the best characters on that show imo.

The Simpsons have been tired for a long time and I've not seen enough Family guy. I really like Futurama.

american dad is classic toshi is class. but if you like american dad you will definatly like family guy.

The Simpsons was a great show but as mentioned it does seem a little tired these days. Family guy is just an excellent show and most certainly in my opinion the best of the selection mentioned here.

I didn't like American Dad at first but I'm slowly getting into it now. Futurama I've just not really watched enough of but it's an excellent show too. I can't comment fairly on South Park at the moment as while I've loved it in the past I seem to have gone off it at the moment.

seriously man the last 3 or 4 seasons of south park have been the best ever. some of the episodes are unbeliveby funny. apoligies to jesse jackson is one of the best episodes i have ever seen. also there is one in the new season were everybody is getting high on cat p**s its halairious.

    Very suprised by this vote!

i mean i love family guy but south park is much more because its been running for so long and it only gets funnier, they do lots of episodes about real things, family guy is very ****ing funy same as south park but because i dont think family guy will last 12 seasons (hope it does) im voting for south park.

I would vote for simpons but it divebombed for a good few years, some decent episodes in the last year or two though

South park for me. The best by far. I can watch them over and over again with out getting bored or tired of them. You can't say that about family guy. So

South Park > Futurama > Simpsons > American Dad > Family Guy.

South Park FTW. FG is just Random Humourous clips mashed together in coherently AD is worse, not even funny.
    SP>F>TS>FG>AD

When the Simpsons was good, it was great. But then Futurama came along and provided such a geeky, intelligent and hilarious alternative that I still feel nothing can touch it. South Park is to wildly uneven, American Dad is funny but Family Guy brings new meaning to the word tired.

Futurama all the way: the funniest, the wittiest, the most intelligent, the most cleverly surreal, the most memorable characters and - crucially - never jumped the shark due to its untimely demise (but thankfully current back to form return).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

I know the Simpsons went completely downhill, but nothing can touch classic Simpsons imo.
Never really a big fan of South Park, haven't seen much of Futurama but what I have seen was only ok.
Family Guy and American Dad are both hit and miss - when they're good, they're brilliant. When they're bad, it's almost painful watching.
So it's still Simpsons for me!

Is there any chance of some kind of follow on for Futurama(the show I voted for)? I heard something like a movie or one off thing but I'm not sure.

South Park for me, it's gotten even better over the years. Family Guy in second place - it can be uneven but it's hilarious when it's on top form.

King of the Hill is probably the best written cartoon out there.

Very close between South Park and Futurama, I'd probably go for the latter given the choice, was ne'er a bad episode of Futurama.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,103 ✭✭✭estebancambias

I hate Family Guy, even though its funny, but they go out of there way to be ''liberal''

South Park is class because its pisses off everyone...religious, dawkins, right wing, left wing, just everything.

The thing with the simpsons is I can watch episode after episode and not get bored.

Randy Marsh is the best charachter of all time.

    +1

nothing can touch simpsons pre 1999.

then it's south park - although there are more dud episodes reccently

then futurama, most consistantly good show.

    then family guy

    then american dad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Would have said Family Guy then American Dad but AD has really started to shine. The episode with 'Oscar Gold' was priceless. I think Roger is actually the best character I've seen in a Cartoon.

American Dad, Family Guy, South Park, Simpsons, Futurerama. I think Futurerama/Simpsons/South Park are OK, but unlike the first two, those last three I wouldn't be bothered watching unless there really was nothing else on.

South Park can be utterly brilliant though at times, and downright awful at others. Generally any storyline involving Randy is worthwhile....'He got served something fierce'.

afaik there's another futurama movie in the works too for 2008 and another for 2009 accoring to imdb

yup i think it's either out in june or july this year. can't wait

    .

i don't know how mate the simpsons has been dead to me for a number of years now i don't even bother with the new episodes the old ones were classic but it just gets out done by every other cartoon in this thread hell i think i would even laugh at sponge bob square pants more than i would at the simpsons these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 243 ✭✭OrangeDaisy

Has to be the simpsons, the original and best. I love futurama (bender rocks!!) don't mind family guy and american dad but i really don't like south park although the episode about the jeffersons was class:D

South Park above the rest for me. I think it has certainly gotten better with age. Season 12 has had one or two mediocre episodes, but looking at the last three or four seasons I think the poor episodes could be counted on one hand. They parody better than anyone else IMO.

Then comes Futurama, the only other cartoon from the list I've any real interest in. I was disgusted when it got cancelled, delighted when I heard about the movies. While I haven't managed to see Bender's Big Score yet, I'm looking forward to seeing them all. This description pretty much sums up Futurama for me:
Futurama came along and provided such a geeky, intelligent and hilarious alternative

Family Guy was something I adored at one time, but I don't like anything past Season 3. I was never big into American Dad but I've heard from a few people that it's gotten better, might give it a go sometime when I'm light on tv to watch.

all the talent seems to have been taken off family guy and put to work on american dad, the last two seasons have been pretty hilarious.. whereas the last two of family guy have been heart breaking.

All good shows, but I only voted for family guy because The Venture Brothers isn't in the poll.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,078 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

I never got SP myself..Dont watch much of American Dad just yet..Futurama is a brilliant show watch. Its a different type of comedy and I enjoy it..Family Guy I dont think is as funny as people make it out to be, the constant cut offs looking into the past or whatever I never find funny. There was only 1 episode I really found to be very funny and that was the one where Stewie gets drunk and Brian brings him out to get so drunk he wil never want to drink again, that was priceless. The Simpsons is 100% the best show outta them all IMHO Easily

    QFT.

Saw some episodes of it for the first time in a while over the last few days. It's brilliant!

Did they stop showing it over here or is it just I haven't watched much TV in the last while?

A "bit more too it" ?

Your kidding me, right? If you take out the random inserted segments that are nothing more than recent pop culture references from Family Guy it is the most pointless waste of time ever. First few seasons of Family Guy were quite good, showed something interesting and new, however any recent episode has just been filled with the same tried and tested crap that is in noway interesting.

South Park trumps Family Guy without a shadow of a doubt.

Futurama I would even put before Family Guy, when watching it back it really was very smart show with decent humour and proper story lines and characer development (something I find utter non-existant in Family guy)

you sound like your almost quoting the cartoon wars episode of south park..... family guy is meant to be just random crap thats whats good about it. its not meant to be taken so seriously after all its is a CARTOON not a big drama. i love south park but i do prefare family guy just because its so random south park would be second on my list followed by american dad or futureama both very good but the simpsons has really gone limp.

South Park is my favourite. A genius combination of both incredibly clever humour and incredibly dumb(in a good way) humour.

American Dad has surprised me. After a shaky start it's come into it's own and turned into a really funny show with very likeable characters. Roger is an absolute treat.

Futurama started brilliantly and stayed fairly strong thoughout.

I think it's funny that Family Guy seems to deteriorate more and more as it increases in popularity. I remember the good old days of series 1-3, when me and a few friends used to be the only ones in class who knew about the show. So many quotable lines back then... now it's a bit of an inconsistant mess really. It has it's moments of brilliance, but it lets me down too often.

The Simpsons, currently, is the worst of the bunch. A shadow of it's former great self, yet still watchable.

Once I watched the cartoons war episode of South Park I found Family Guy even worse (was never a fan). I couldn't believe just how accurate the criticism was. Apart from the constant Meg joke I find it to be a poor sketch show.

+1 on King of the Hill though. I loved the way it was structured. One episode full of charachter development with a few jokes, but all of the jokes were classics

sometimes i think people just don't get family guys humor. i think it is a little too clever for some people and the jokes just go over their heads. i know this from actually watching it with friends who just can't grasp the humor cause if they have to think about a joke then its just not funny to them. so i think this is the problem some people have with family guy.

South Park definitely, Matt and Trey are sick mofo's

All the others, bar modern simpsons, are class in their own way - bender is the best sidekick ever!

family guy humour is not clever in the slightest.

it's a bit of a laugh but not more so than any other show mentioned in the thread

so a show has to be clever to be funny, seriously i think your wrong family guy has brilliant humour to it, even if it is only joke after joke with no meaning its still very funny
