    Guys.

After spending all my adult life in Dublin(apart from a year in Australia) I am on the move to Cavan (work reasons). Anyway I dont want to let my gym training slide so I was wondering if any of you knew of any good places to train in Cavan town (or in that general area)?

I would be looking for something similar to Pinnacle not a Jackie Skellys type place.

    Thanks.

It's pretty terrible TBH. Around Cavan town the Gym up the back of the town where the swimming pool is located is the only option. And it's not good atall. There is one barbell (non oly) with about 4 x 20kg wheels. There is a fair set of dumbells and the usual machines, lat pulldown, pec dec, etc. No dip/pullup station.

Gym in the Cavan Crystal hotel is useless altogether.

The Slieve Russell has a gym and includes it in their Golf Club Membership or separate on its own. I haven't been in their gym so can't advise you there.

If you're into GAA then joining one of the local GAA clubs may be an idea. More of them now have good club houses with decent gym facilities.

Theres also a Rugby Club in Cavan but I don't know where they do weights.

My father is a member of Zest in one of the hotels, and I've worked out with him, but it's very machine based, no barbells and the dumbbells only go up to 50lb each.

Thanks for the replies.. Doesnt sound like I have many options with regards the type of gym I want. Maybe I will have to go down the home gym route. I use a lot of barbells and dumbells and hardly every use the machines. Maybe there is a gap in the market for this type of gym.. Get me to the bank manager :)
