Incident: Cityjet RJ85 at Dublin on Apr 24th 2015, tail scrape on landing

A Cityjet Avro RJ-85 on behalf of Air France, registration EI-RJR performing flight WX-123/AF-3140 from London City,EN (UK) to Dublin (Ireland), landed on Dublin's runway 28, however, the tail of the aircraft contacted the runway surface twice immediately after touchdown. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron, both tower and crew maintained routine communication.

The aircraft departed for its next scheduled flight WX-222 to London City on schedule and continued service.

The airline reported the aircraft received "light scuffing to the tail strike indicator".

Routine procedure maybe, but this one still looks pretty hairy from Cork yesterday. Misalignment is striking.

The academic answer might go as follows. Due to the high velocity and adverse wind conditions, the aircraft was forced into a tangental approach to the runway. As a result, the flightdeck crew were unable within an acceptable time parameter to correct the attitude of the aircraft into an adequate parallel axis with the runway so as to perform a safe landing

I prefer the laymans version, "they couldn't straighten her out in time, before hitting the deck"!
