    Ive heard of a website that you can plan your route and distance for your walk/jog....has anyone heard of it, or am i being purely dillusional??

    There are a few...

    The one I use is Gmap.

    An alternative is mapmyrun.com.

    And there are many more, if these don't suit you try google.

    It's a cool wee hack for Google Maps. Locate your starting point, click Start Recording, then double click spots to add them (straight line).
