What is the rest of your diet like?
Your diet and training need to be in order, protein shakes are just protein, there's nothing magic in them, I am not sure what you expected to notice when taking the protein, think of it as an extra chicken breast in your day - it's not gonna produce big changes on its own.

mack1 is right but if your working long hours its hard to eat enough and the protein is a handy alternative. Promax is high quality but very expensive and you can do better for you buck!

I know any of the following contain high quality sources of Whey:

    Reflex
    PhD
    Maximuscle
    Nutrition X
    Optimum Nutrition
    Universal

I would avoid other american brands, you dont know what your getting!

I'll agree with both of the above. Just drinking some protein isn't gonna turn you into a big monster... NutritionX and bulkpowders.co.uk would be my two faves anyway.
