Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has been to the new TK Maxx opened up in Carrickmines recently. I've never been that much of a fan of the place, I always found the one in Stephens Green very messy, which as always put me off going.

I've heard of people finding great things in there.. what's everyone's experiences with it?:)

TK Maxx is messy everywhere. I avoid it like the plague.

I find that you have to be in the shopping mood to go trawling through the rails.Alot of the fashion is hideous but I have found quite a few very decent things in there and at a bargain price aswell. There seems to be a massive Ladieswear section which I guess is the same in most fashion shops.

There was a chat on the Gerry Ryan show I think one day a while ago about how the staff in Tk Maxx in Blanch let the women try on the underwear,i thought this was a bit insane really but I havn't seen it happen in my local Tk Maxx.I'm referring to the one in Sligo,which is my local,btw!

That's what I'm afraid of.

I've heard alot of people say they got such a fab thing here and stuff but you "have to route around"... noooooo in a shop i should not have to route around!!!!!!

I know there's that whole policy of try them on over your underwear but with some people you never know!!

i was up there over the w/e for the craic, its actually very nice.

the clothes are the usual mix of crap and xtra large sizes but there is a nice amount of stuff to be found if you are willing to really shop for it. The shoes are particularly nice.

The one is Dublin is crap but TJ Maxx and Ross in america are great, got amazing DKNY jeans for 20 dollars and wore them til the day they nearly split on the ass!

I went there the day after it opened. I found it quite good. I didn't drive me as crazy as the other stores, and there was plenty of space around the rails. However it was a bit disorganised as in jeans in 4 or 5 different places as oposed to all in the same section

Speaking of people trying on underwear in TK Maxx...

I was in the one down in Tralee about 2 years ago and I was looking at this fab Giorgio Armani 2 piece white suit, not something i would normally go for, but I had a good tan at the time and the white really complimented it.

So I go to try it on, head into the changing rooms, I'm about to put one leg into the trousers when to my shock and horror I found that the crotch/backside region of the trousers were stained brown... and it wasn't melted chocolate either I can tell you that!

Needless to say I didn't purchase said suit...

I usually go to the one in Stephen's Green, and there are great bargains to be found, but you really do have to be prepared to root around. I like rooting, personally, so it doesn't bother me too much. You do need to set aside a few hours though.

Anyway, I found the one in Belfast to be a lot tidier and more organised than Stephen's Green.

If you go first thing in the morning, it's probably not too bad either.

tk maxx is a male shoppers nightmere.

you can't go in and out within 10 minutes.

ah i wouldn't say that i love the one in kilkenny it's great on thurs morns when all the new stuff is been put out for the weekend, after getting few nice suites over the last few months..........:D

Hmm, If I'm in the mood I head into the one in Stephen's Green every now and again. I found a gorgeous cashmere cardigen in there once, and picked up a nice pair of converse, but appart from that I usually come out with sh*g all. It's usually not worth the walk up the stairs.

The TK Maxx in Sligo is generally very good. I agree with previous posters though you have to be in the mood for searching through the rails. I have found some gems in there in the last couple of years. I also have to wear shirts to work and you can get some great bargains in that department e.g Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss.

tk maxx in newry co down is where i would go and its prett good its not a complete mess but the one in stephens green makes me mad the minute i walk in the door!!!

The one in Blanch is nice a big so it's easier to get around. You can find some amazing stuff there and be pretty sure not that many people will be wearing it as well. I love it for sneakers. Picked up a pair of Air Jordan Spiz'ikes there for 60 blips when size? wanted €132 for the same ones.

Total bedlam imo... If I'm shopping with someone who wants to go in there, I'll wait outside.. However I did get a really good bra in there once very cheap, you can be lucky, but I would only go in if there was something I REALLY wanted and knew they had it.. And had the time to fine tooth comb the place...

Got my son lovely communion shoes a few years back,they were cream and caterpillar the 1 in blanch is better,but my son hates it and says youd need to bring a picnic cause youre there for the day

I'm the total opposite, I only go in there for stuff I don't really need and take my chances as to what they have.

that's how i am. i went into the sligo one last saturday for a wander and came out with a tea pot, a shirt and 2 shrinking vacuum space saving bags. utter randomness!

I've picked up a William Hunt tie at TK Maxx for €20 that would have retailed for over €150.

Besides that, very little. That one freak purchase keeps me coming back in vain.

It's a lovely tie...girls in the office have passed comment and even came up and stroked it!

Ordinarily I wouldn't even pay €150 for a shirt, never mind a tie.

I find that for menswear you'll stumble across a real bargain such as this about 1 in every 10 visits to TK Maxx, usually later in the year when various places are dumping their out of season stock.

I've managed to locate some nice stuff in Stephens Green, but generally if I go... i tend to go as the doors open... yet to go to C'mines even though its much closer to me... for the amount of times I've gone in for a root around to the amount of times buying anything.... I'd say it's a 95% coming out with nothing.... instead I hit the sales, and many stores have mid season reductions so you'll find me there... as for trying on clothes... I'll be sure that nothing unsavoury has been there before.. I would NEVER buy my underwear or swmming things in such a place :eek::eek::eek: luckily I'd never wear white either :cool:
