    Hi

Can anybody recommend a personal trainer for northwood, I have a couple of vouchers to spend and am looking for some feedback. Looking for weights, strenght and conditioning trainer. As this is my first post I am not too sure if I can name individual trainers so if anybody is in the know please share.

    thanks

    Hi

Anybody any views on any of the trainers in that gym or has anybody actually done some work with them.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Cheers

i couldn't name anyone specifically (don't know any of their names!) but i spent a good while with one of them on my first visit to the gym after becoming a member and he was great. i've been through that rigmarole before in my previous gym but he knew a lot more stuff. i would assume they all get the same training.

just go in and wait at the little desk at the pool end of the gym (downstairs) and someone will be over to help you out

I don't know any of them by name, but there are 2 males one with blond hair (I think) and one with shaved black hair and 1 lady.

I haven't seen much of the woman doing training so can't comment but of the 2 men the one with the blond hair seems decent enough the other one I would go near

Lol, I can just imagine the OP trying to book a session at the reception... 'Erm yeah, I'll have the blonde one please...'

I know I was thinking the same myself:D but the crap one has a good few posters with his face on it so it should be easy to get his name and then just ask for the other one:D

edit: Lindak may know there names

I'm hearing a couple of mixed reports on this, I will check it out at the weekend, I just need somebody to work on strength & conditioning, what I do think is that if the personal trainer is young enough & doesnt look in the best of shape then I would be put off, but as i said i will check it out and if they are covered in the voucher scheme well I should be up and running

I think you are a bit mixed up ! In northwood there are guys who work for ben dunne young guys who are fitness instructors they wear the read jumpers they are free and any member can get a workout done up ! without disrespecting anyone they are quite young and some off them not all of them are not in great shape ! There is one guy though called Brian and he is good ! These guys will go through a workout once with you and show you the excercises then its up to you ! Then you have the personal trainers who are self employed and must pay ben dunne a fee to work in his gym I think there is about 5 of them and you pay for this seperatly they all have differnet fees which i am not sure about. Ian is a personal trainer and I would highly recommend him I became friends with him because I used him as a personal trainer a couple of years ago.

What I have is a couple of vouchers and with it came a few business cards , 1 girl and 2 blokes ( Joe Dunne and I think Barry , will check when I get home), wasnt sure if there are more personal trainers and if they are covered by this voucher, I'll ring the gym and ask. and yeah i know the others are just staff who will give you a programme.

apologies for the confusion and thanks for the help

I again would have to say barry over joe. I have watched both of them doing programmes with people and although their wouldn't be much between them in terms of the programmes they give, I have noticed joe let people get away with some pretty bad form when doing exerices and not correct them, which in a good personal trainer is unforgivable IMO

ye between sets I have a funny habit at looking at the personal trainers and seeing what they are getting the newbies to do. I have to say I have noticed that they seem to be getting a lot more varied in the routines they do compared to when I started and overall the quality is a lot better. However I am still waiting for any of them to show someone how to squat properly in the squat rack (actually this isn't a bad thing due to the fact that we only have the one squat rack)

Yes dont speak to soon it would be an absolute nightmare if they all started using the rack !!

Body Tech (where Barry is working) has left Northwood and is now in Total Fitness.
Personal Trainers, Joe Dunne & Ian Graham are very higly recommended.
    Well Worth the money!
