Measuring weight loss

Would it be okay to weigh yourself once a week? I know any more often than that is not recommended so would once a week give you a good, honest reading or do you think less often?

As I'm training with weights, I'm also measuring with the old tape-measure to chart the inches coming off. Would once a week be often enough to do this aswell? Or would it be different? I'm having assesments once a month in the gym, maybe that's enough but I would like to monitor more often. That way if I'm doing something wrong I can nip it in the bud that little bit sooner.

Or does it depend on factors like my starting weight, target weight, what I'm doing in my workouts etc? I'm trying to find the line between "giving enough information" and "boring people senseless".

Weigh and measure yourself weekly if you want. But only make comparisons over a two weeks period AT LEAST. 3-4 might even be better.

Make sure you weigh and measure yourself at the same time of day, on the same day each week. First thing Sunday morning works well for me, but if you've been out over the weekend it might screw up the measurements a bit.
