    Hi all,

Missus is considering joining a ladies only gym. She is the sensitive type and seems very keen on not having blokes near her while working out!!, so would you recommend any gym of this nature in the south dublin area?

Where in Dublin are you? Keeping away from Curves, there's workout express in Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Leopardstown, which follows the same basic idea of curves, but I believe they have different resistance settings on their machines and have decent cardio machines. There's star fitness in bray as well but I've no idea what thats like. Would a gym with a ladies only weights area not suffice for her? Most gyms have enough cardio equipment that she wouldn't be anywhere near men anyway, if thats what she wants.

AFAIK westwood in sandymount has a women only section. I think it might be better for your wife to go to mixed gym with lady only sections rather than a straight womens gym.

Great thanks for that. She had heard great reports about LWE in Leopardstown, so she is going to try that out. apprently it's brand new and only open 2 ish weeks. She won't join me in WW!!

She says they have classes, cardio, circuit training & showers and apparently have beauty rooms in the pipeline too!

Anyway here is the link she sent me if this helps anyone else.

dubrunner, tbh, the link you've provided looks like the Curves type set-up. Would she workout at home if you bought some stuff and showed her how to lift? The circuit training on that site sounds like the "home fitness equipment" you see washed up 80's actors flogging on late-night TV.

TBH, I think she's being rather silly. Once she's actually focused on what she's doing in the gym she'd be too busy to notice anyone looking at her.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I didn't realise, but she said it was beside the new Dunnes Stores on the Ballyogan Road.

She went down last night with 2 of her mates and they loved it. They've signed up for the year.

Apparently great machines on resistence and the cardio...... they also throw in group classes FOC too and she mentioned that it's all very girly with pink carpets etc..

She mentioned that the girls are very friendly and very attentive........ something I think most gyms should do!!
