Decent monthly southsides gyms membership, utopia?

    Hi everybody,

    Similar thread a few days ago, apologies for that.

    For some reason, I would only stay where I live (d16) a few months, let's say 3-6. However, I would like to join a gym in the area. However, after having gone to all the gyms I now nearby I really have struggled to get a monthly fee.

    Every yean wants you to join for a year contract, or alternative have a monthly direct debit paying more but still a years contract. Yes, you can cancel the direct debit but you will break the contract, with chances on being chased by collectors or sued.

    I think I only managed to get a monthly fee for a three months contract in Jackie Skelly at Nutgrove, and of course it was 50% more expensive than the anual contract.

    So, I know many people stand this, but to me seems like quite an abuse. In Total Fitness for example, they wanted to charge me 20% more for monthly membership, but still signing a years contract. I would have signed a monthly contract with those terms. 20% seems reasonable to me, however 50% percent? I wonder if is really legal from a consumers rights perspective to do not offer you a decent priced short-term alternative.

    Anyways, does anyone knows a gym with monthly membership that does not enforce you to sign an annual contract in southside?
