Get your diet right (six small meals a day, each with a quality protein, a healthy fat and a green veg, cut out all sugar, processed foods and takeaways, stop drinking booze and switch to water), get enough sleep, switch off the tv, and join a gym.

Concentrate on compound lifts using free weights like squat, deadlift, bench press, military press, dips, pull-ups, lunges, stiffleg deadlifts, barbell rows, stuff like that. Learn how to do them right, then lift heavy. Trust me, you won't get "too bulky".

On non-lifting days, do cardio. And do it right. None of this "fat burning zone" nonsense, go hard at it, puff and sweat and you'll see results.

    It's not.

dunkindonuts: be prepared for a long hard slog, and keep at it.

    good luck mate.
