Hey guys been ouuta training for a while but recently started jogging with a guy in work just to get me goin. he does 10k a few times a week so i started doin 5ks with him. Started pretty poor tbh was barely able to do it at first but now i'm able to do it pretty (for me anyway) good 25 mins without stopping. Managed to get myself from 16st7lbs to 15st12lbs (i'm6'2) so far, have also been trying to eat healthier too.

Anyway i've been primally running in the evenings after 4. Once or twice aroun 8pm.

The thing is i started a job where i work evenings every second week so i'm goin to have to train in the mornings now if i want to get into shape.

Tried it this morning at 10:30 was supposed to go for my first 10k run and it was a total flop. Was barely able to jog 500m to meet the guy. had a warmup and stretch there just thought that was all i needed. Legs just felt dead and very stiff, breathing was all over the place.Felt a lot of stiffness in the lower back too. Id say total distance covered was about 4 k and i walked half it. proababl took me 40 mins. WTF.

I always knew i wasn't a morning person but this is rediculous. Maybe i just have to get used to it. Anyone else ever feel like this? Anyone got any routines i could try in the morning to get me goin?
I'm goin to try again tomorrow cos i just have to get into it.

What did you eat and drink before running this morning? Also how long were you out of bed before running?

About an hour, water an orange and some jammy brown toast. :o
I see what you're getting at. But i know people that can just wake up and do stuff honestly if i had four hours and a good lunch i think i'd still be crap.

What's worth bearing in mind is that when you exercise at 4 in the evening you've got considerably more energy inside you than in the morning when you're going out on a couple slices of toast. Also, you are far more 'limbered' up later in the day as compared to when you fall out of bed.

I'd recommend getting a bowl of porridge or a banana or two into you before the run. This will release energy more gradually to fuel your run. I'd also think about doing a few sets of push-ups and bodyweight squats before going out the door to run. You'll find these kind of exercises will really get the blood rushing round your body and into all your muscles, so that when you go to run your body is prepared.

The energy side of things is very important, most of my runs are lunch time or early evening. However with my long run its in the morning personally I like to be up about three hours before a run. Time to wake up slowly get food inside ect. Downside for me is it still means getting up about 7.30 on Saturday mornings:( I can do the run with only being up an hour but its better for me if I have more time.
