So far this week is going bad - came down with a throat infection / cold. Missed training yesterday, hoping to get to the gym tonight.
My holidays are next week so I need to gey back to form!

I have to be completely honest - my weekend was a bit of a food-fest :o

I was at a three-day wedding and the wine/ champagne were flowing, the food was incredible and the spirits were very high :D

I've been struggling with exercise too as I was moving apartment all last week but I've been getting walks in wherever possible. Things should begin to slow down again over the coming days and I can start implementing a routine again. I hope so anyway...

I lapsed for the central weeks I must admit. I was given very short notice that I was moving for work so everything went to **** ... badly.

I'm starting fom scratch here again, I have 86 days before I go home on leave so while the chalenge ends in two weeks my personal one will continue after wards.

I've been here 4 days and i'm making better progress than I ever did at home. No outside influences are great, no girlfriends with takeaways, friends with pints and so on ! :o

Yep I am blaming Leinster on a pretty crap weekend as far as the challenge went. That and work at the moment isn't good so diet is all over the place at the moment and will be for the next while aswell.
Didn't take a full set of measurements this week, but weight was down 2lbs on sunday (the more accurate mid week weight was down to 14st 12 which is my first sub 15 stone in a while) and waist was down to 37.2" which is just under 3" for the challenge so far.

Truthfully though I don't think my heart and soul are in the challenge anymore, this is due to the fact that since the challenge I have upped my effort in the gym and even though I was coming off a 12 week lay off, in the last 6 weeks I have made some good strength increases and I am probably the strongest I have ever been. The Problem is I have having to fuel myself for the extra increase and for the moment I am putting strength before being lean. However I am still planning on doing at least another 4 weeks of leaning out after the challenge and bar an extended weekend away after the challenge I am now off the booze till the 20th of June

Things are going well. Still getting stronger and leaner. Weight went from 73.5kg to 75kg in the past week or so since I started eating properly again.

Don't want to really go above 75kg for the sake of my knees when running.

BMI is around 26 according to dodgy handheld gadget and bodyfat approx 9%.

Bar yesterday (my birthday, biggest chinese ever :o ) dieting has been as planned. Exercise has never been where I liked it for the whole of this challenge. I have got a lot leaner, from 20+ bf% according to a calipers to about 16% so I am happy enough with that trend (85kg to 80kg).

My shoulder is feeling a lot better but its that false sense of security phase where it feels ok but if I try anything I will end up back at square one. Starting rehab exercises tomorrow.

This amazing weather has me real fired up to do weights. After squats I usually do lunges so last week I decided to do them in the front garden. Looked like a nutter I'm sure but it was really good fun to do them outside.

Plan to do the same tonight.

I have put in the effort with the diet but I need to do the same with the exercise.

Had a 24 hour period over the weekend where I cheated constantly, went out for dinner, had dessert, 2 cokes, 6 beers, then the next day, in my hungoverness I had a pizza and loads of bread and toast.

But I am very proud of my achievements, ran 8km in 36 minutes (another first and a record for me) and my measurements are looking good:

    Measurements are in cm:
    Beginning:__Week 5__________Week 6
    Neck_________37.5____________37
    Chest________93______________94.5
    Bicep________29______________29.5
    Wrist________16.5____________16.5
    Waist________85.5(33.6")______83.5(32.8")
    Hips_________93.5____________92.5
    Top of legs____86.5____________87.5
    Knee________36______________35.5
    Calf_________36______________35.5

oh I was naughty last weekend :o was away on hol in Kerry and routine was out the window. Was out for dinner every evening, lunch was salads which isn't too bad... but lots of rich food and very little exercise!

Pilates class this evening, feel wrecked after all the driving at the weekend so not going to gym at lunch. Need a good night sleep tonight and hit the gym tomorrow :D Boxercise class it is.

Hadn't eaten bread in so long and had a few slices for breakfast (thought it'd be better than having toast..) my tummy was in bits last night. No more bread for me :o

Yea weekend was carnage here as well..

Friday evening involved a chinese meal + a fair bit of drink

Saturday - wedding all day, I'd say I had 4 Challenge weeks worth of alcohol units that day...

Sunday - up and back to Dublin, meal out in the afternoon, sausage sandwich later before heading out drinking again, finished at a late night Indian, home at 5.

Yesterday was zonked, today getting back to normal, but will be tomorrow before I'm back on my fitness routine

    bag of chips

    Singapore chow mein
    Chicken Szcheaun with noodles

All in all probably about 3 days worth of food there.

Same as you c-13, my chalenge doesn't end until september. I found moving to new surroundings has helped with the routine and getting out of the old bad habbits. However once the neighbours found out an Irish guy lives next door, well lets just say the boozing by the pool has picked up dramatically. GOOD TIMES :D

I didn't actually get a chance to take them this week so I will just wait to sunday now to take some

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,111 ✭✭✭joker77

Yea I'm posting mine in my log as well, undid a lot of good work last weekend at a wedding, but I'm back at it now.

When the challenge is finished I intend to maintain some of the good things that I started - I'm down to 1 cup of coffee in the morning and that's my caffeine intake for the day, I'm drink green tea during the day instead. I'm not drinking any fizzy drinks at all now, and my biscuit eating has been seriously curtailed. I've a bit of a sweet tooth for that kind of thing, plus chocolate, but nothing too bad.

I keep forgetting to do my measurements, I have only done them twice in the last 6 weeks... D'oh!

Im the same I have not had any fizzy drinks what so ever and I intend on keeping it that way. I have also been drinking green tea instead. When this is over I will keep my treats to one a week I think that is fair.
HAd a little blip last night , its the sunshine I know it is it makes me want to eat. I had a low fat super split ice cream and a mini choc bar and lots of dry roasted peanuts. In my defence I have stuck to this task completly up until last night I couldnt help it ! :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,819 ✭✭✭✭g'em

well here's the thing... I've been struggling quite a lot of late with my food habits, mostly thanks to some fairly difficult personal stress in my life. When this happens my eating habits tend to get hit badly and if I don't have my routine to rely on I'm up a poopy creek without a paddle. When I'm stressed my sweet tooth emerges and I've been comfort-eating toffee/lemon bon-bons for the last few days. There's also been a glass of wine or six... :o

It's a crappy cycle to get stuck into because the more crap you eat, the more crap you feel, and the more crap you feel, the more you want to eat crap to make you feel better. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, I know, but it's a coping mechanism that's deep rooted. It's easy to say "g'em, just put down the bon-bons" and in the cold hard light of day that seems a very logical way of looking at things and makes total sense. But logic and food issues are ne'er easy bed-fellows and until I can sort some stuff out and get my head back to a place where I'm a little more comfortable with... well with life I guess that logic is dealt with on an hour to hour basis. I'm still eating relatively ok-ish, but there certainly won't be any weight loss going right now.

Anyhoodles, I'm still here, but just treading water for a while.

Thats exactly how I was last night the more of those nuts I put into my mouth the crapper I felt and then I wanted more !! Crazy.. But it is hard when you have things on your mind and maybe are not feeling 100 %. But like you said you are relativly ok -ish so thats better than all out bad !! :)

Having an awful week, was working down the country and at meetings really late. So - haven't been able to get to bed early not to mention gym. Am wrecked and diet has had to be whatever is available. Hoping that today will be the last of it, so the weekend will have to do something. Didn't take any measuremetns this week - I know it's not good though!! So, will just skip this weeks measurements and next weeks will tell the tale.

Come on lads we need to dig deep - think we're all after a bad week!!

Yep, just back from the gym and I may as well not have been there. My energy levels were completely zapped, and on my 2nd work set of squats I nearly missed the last rep. Pretty scary stuff.

Still, at least I made it to the gym I suppose, tomorrow will be easier!

I'd still take your measurements Cork Girl - you need to be consistent! Also a bad week also doesnt necessarily mean gains all round. don't beat yourself up too much!

Yes I suppose I should take the measurements alright, dammit!! Ok I'll do it tonight. Not looking forward to it though!!

Ok. Did my measurements and as I suspected - not good. Although I know I am very bloated at moment cos my tummy is at me.. so it's not really a fat gain I hope!! Weird thing is - no weight gain on the scales - still 140lbs, or 10 stone even.:o

Well my diet & excercise has gone to sh*ts for many reasons.

Ive ended up on the Special K diet  which Im not even doing properly and am now only doing a 4k jog a few times a week (this is my equivalent of training for the mini marathon :o )

All I know is Im the same weight. I'll do my measurements in the morning

Signed up for the Spencer Tunik naked photo next month, that might just be the push I need....we'll see if I can go through with it !!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭lindak

Oh its the last week ! I cant believe it .. Have to admit last week was not my best week with regard to food excercise wise gave it 110%, went out for a meal sat night and had the whole works but really I gave 110% for the first 6 weeks. Its the last week and im gonna get back on track !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,182 ✭✭✭Tiriel

Last week was terrible for me too - exercise wise mainly - diet wasn't too bad. Exercise was awful actually! So this week will have to give it 110% to make up for it, feels as if I was never part of the challenge - it's terrible but after only 1 week it's like I've taken 3 weeks worth of effort off!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭lindak

feels as if I was never part of the challenge

I know but its the last week and for 6 of them you gave 110% and we have all done so well ! look at what you have achieved over the last couple of weeks !I am really happy with my results ! Its bikini time for me ,Im off to south of france for a couple of days late next week so im gonna get stuck in this week and next !

Just need to keep it up!! That's a great motivator you have - the thought of a bikini would have me going too!!!

Same here, after I get back from my Holidays in June, I'm starting up a fitness log and getting a monthly membership for my gym.

Can we have a Week 8 thread? I want to put up my measurements, I could make it myself but I wouldn't be able to sticky it. Thanks. :)

officially yes, but the whole point of the challenge was to get people into routines that they could keep up. That and I think quite a few people will be keeping it up anyway. I know I will be keeping up till mid june bar a slightly drunk 5 days next week
