i wouldve been with you on that..but having thought about my wii and my 360,the amount of must have games on both is around the same, depending what you consider musthave...

    GTA IV
    Call Of Duty 4
    Bioshock
    Halo 3
    Orange Box

    Mario Galaxy
    Metroid Prime 3
    Zelda
    Smash Bros. Brawl.
    Mario Kart

there are more from each console as well, but i reckon its about average

More RE games (the Wii port RE0 will be anticipated)
    An MMORPG of some sort.

I'm beginning to think that they are going to develop games around sensor technology rather than focus on the graphics engine or upping capabilities, so we'll see more fun games but nothing to wow the eyes.

Well I'd say a Virtua Tennis is a definite future release, given that Sega Superstar Tennis uses the same engine.
Hip boxing game, doubtless EA have a Fight Night yet to appear.
Family Ski on the Wii isn't bad at all, although it really needs a sequel to that great N64 game 1080.
An fps? Surely COD3, MOH: H2 and Metroid Prime 3 are enough 1st person thrills for you?
A good hack, the twilight hack not doing it for you?

I think the lack of voice chat during online games is a real shame, Would be great for playing with mates in the UK.

Some better third party development would certainly be a good thing. I'm a mario fan but I'd like to see soem other stuff too, something that idn't involve bratz or poorly animated pets.

Agree with third party support. Although things are much improved in this in the past couple of months.

Online rankings, etc. for all online games as standard like mario kart has.

More sports games that now take note of what konami has done for Pro Evo.

Wii will never get online voice chat. Nintendo don't want to run the risk of people being verbally abused when they use their games. It ain't gonna happen.

Fair enough, but I would imagine they are talking about a watered down or friends only product..

I can't, for example, imagine it would be brought to a point where you could go into an online game with random strangers (e.g. Mario Kart) and be able to talk freely with everyone there. Or more to the point, be able to listen freely to all of the abuse that would come with it. ;)

Yeah playing halo while some american 12 year olds SCREAM obscenities at everyone was incredibly annoying. Even a product for friends use would be welcome though.

    wireless keyboard.

    a better installed flash player.

god damn micro machines and mortal combat on the vc!

    Online multiplayer VC games!

a wireless keyboard would make the internet channel at least partially viable, its essentially unusable for anything other than the briefest of searches at the moment.

    a new wii-only Zelda title.

Not sure I'm bothered about that. Although maybe in MOH or something the the screams of panic and frustration add realism ;)

MORE FPS games, i.e. Quake, Doom, anyhting along those lines. The system is crying out for them. Look how well Metorid controls work.

the Controls are greart but with PS3 and Xbox 360 producing high def super realistic visuals for FPSs anything on the Wii is going to look weak in comparision. This is one are in which theWii cant compete.

Why isn't it? Its highly frustrating. presumably its using DVD technology anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,709 ✭✭✭Balfa

It's technically capable of it, but in order to be compatible with the DVD standard, they would have to pay royalties to the DVD (or MPEG, can't remember) working group, and that would jack up the price of each console. It's the same reason you had to buy a DVD kit (essentially, an overpriced remote control) for the original XBOX.

There were rumours of a similar DVD kit coming out for the Wii, but I haven't heard much recently.

Besides, I doubt it's all that frustrating. Most people have it next to an existing DVD player, or PS3, etc. And if not, what's a DVD player these days, €30?

Yes it is that Frustrating, I have limited Scart Inputs and A wii, a DVD player, a VHS and Satelite Telly. Having to switch leads anytime I want to watch a fricking Movie is very annoying.

solved by running the mute player sub-routine
