Hey, i know long cardio exercises like jogging can lower you metabolism, but what i was wondering was, do long periods of walking have the same effect ? Does this also lower your metabolism?

Well, walking is a cardio exercise (if you walk fast enough). Cardiovascular exercises don't lower your metabolism, though.

    Even bodybuilders think so.

Huge amounts of cardio can be catabolic (you lose muscle) but you are talking about training like a marathon runner. However, to train like that, you need to eat like a horse, so you definitely won't lower your metabolism.

If you are talking about the sort of walking that an active person could do in a normal day, just do and don't worry about it. I remember reading that an average person burns about 50 calories walking a mile. You'd need to walk a lot of miles before this becomes a problem.

A simple rule of thumb is 100 calories per mile for a 180 pound person

Ugh, I think I got kilometers and miles confused.

You can increase the calorie burn by swining arms or going uphill. Some people do not jog or run for fear of damaging there knees, so for a given steady pace going uphill will use a lot more caloires, or going up steps. Around killiney coast there are loads of steep hills & steps.
