    Homeward Bound

The one where the two dogs and the cat get lost and have to find there way home. One of the dogs is really old and he falls down a shaft and when the other two get home everyone's all happy except the little boy who own's the old dog and they're all like '....he was an old dog, he had a good life...' and then the music starts and he limps up over the hill....another box of kleenex please...classic!!

It has to be the champ . every time I see a boxing match on the TV my eyes just well up. I can't stop thinking about the kid and the champ.

no... no movie as every made me cray, a few TV scenes and movie scenes make we (i think the word is wimper) But cry, tears? no... I think i might have let one tear go during a conversation between the bride & bill in kill bill 2 but that was many years ago and i cant be sure because i didnt feel emotional at the time.

Everyone of course shed a tear when ET went home.

You'd be lying if you said otherwise :p

Im not usually one for crying in movies, but for some reason there is two bit in the Green Mile that make me a bit weak; the bit where John is in the cinema watching the movie, and the end where they execute him. Truely a touching movie.

I think the last time before that that I cried during a movie was when Simbas da dies in the stampede in the Lion King; I was about 10 at the time!!!

The Notebook ... pick a scene, any scene ... the movie just seems to hit a spot every time i watch it , love it :)

Ordinary People with Donald Sutherland brought tears to my eyes, wouldn't be the biggest drama fan but this film was brilliant, very touching. I couldn't reccomend it enough for those of you who haven't sen it.

Was watching kevin Costner early on this evening in ' Dragonfly ' and the scene
in the inca village were he discovers he has a baby daughter (who was looked after by the villagers after his wifs death )
    . .....was quite moving .

Also the Bridges of Madison county was very sentimental .

The end of Shawshank Redemption also induces some happy tears.

    In the Green Mile where
    Michael Clarke Duncan is executed...

    and

    In Man on the Moon,
the whole scene from where Andy notices the "healer" is just a conman, up to his funeral where he speaks on the screen.

They are the only 2 scenes to ever get me.

The ending of the Iron Giant...

Even watching just the clip on it's own gets to me. Don't watch it out of context if you haven't seen the film yet.

    What about Terminator 2
At the end in the factory when Arnie is lowering himself down to be melted; when only his arm is left above the surface with a thumbs up to John

If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye nothing will.

Has to be 'All Dogs Go To Heaven'. I was only like four when I saw but I balled my eyes out. Damn cute puppies dying.

You bastid Xavi! Why did you have to bring that film up?! :(

I was about the same age when I went to see it, my grandmother had died very recently and I cried like crazy at it!

I'd agree with the ending of "The Iron Giant" and sticking with animation, I'd put forward the end to "Grave of the Fireflies". Affected me as pretty much no movie has managed to do in a decade.

Tower Records have a big Ghibli selection, as do HMV in the Dublin city centre.

iron Giant and Grave of the Fireflies are definetes in the making me cry stakes.

Strangely i get caught out with "Finding neverland" whenever i watch it too.

When Optimus Prime dies in the original animated Transformers film. Grave of the Fireflies and the Iron Giant also get me each and every time.

I'd completely forgot about 'All dogs go to Heaven' until you mentioned it ... an all-time classic , love it :)

the ending of "A very long engagement" is the only movie ever to draw a tear from my eyes. I've watched it a few times and I always well up at the end. There's something about the mix of the musical score, Audrey Tautous big brown welling eyes and the significance of the ending that gets me every time.

Went to see Son of Rambow tonight, and i have to say the whole film really struck a cord with me.
I didnt quite cry at the end of it, but it certainly had me feeling emotional.

Armageddon....when Ben A. sings ''leaving on a jet plane''.... balling! ..... Oh and the film Beaches... I love that film but it is a serious blubber fest from pretty much start to finish!!!!!!

I remember when we showed United 93 for the first time at the cinema, we have a screen full of crying women walking out at the end.

All Dogs Go to Heaven, oh God. That made me weep like a baby .. er .. when I was a baby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,565 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

re-watching shrek, when Hallelujah came on. my brother had died recently at the time and i just balled. i know it was more of a personal thing but the song and the moment in the film are pretty powerful.

cant believe no1 has mentioned gladiator. some film, other brother saw it in cinema and said he never saw anything like it before, the amount of people balling! and he saw braveheart in the cinema too, he thinks gladiators ending blew it away in the waterfalls. gets me a little too, especially the bit where crowe is walking on his farm again(i dont know how to do the spoiler thing so im being as vague as possible!)

only time i witnessed open crying was for Pearl Harbour when Mr X is dying in Mr Y's arms! as i was young and didnt care in the slightest for the movie(joint worse movie ive ever seen in the cinema, other one is troy), me and a few others started chanting Up the Japs. the crying faded into pissed off moaning!

I'm usually big and tough but these three are just emotional

    1. Ghost dog
    2. Dead poets Society
    3. Michael Collins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,523 ✭✭✭✭Nerin

usually wouldnt cry unless its something similar to a real life thing.
usually if its sad i'll get goosebumps or the hair will stand up on my neck or skin will burn. :p

in any godzilla film where the godzilla dies, get the goosebumps/hair standing up.terrible stuff altogether. even the ones where hes the baddie.... poor gojira.

all dogs go to heaven messed me up as a kid for ages.

the ending to spirited away, in a happy way.

chasing amy, seen it maybe 60 times and sometimes two of the parts in it get me.

The crow. the opening scene/flashback. (even the original graphic novel).
also on the two disc edition, the interview with james o barr can get me a bit blah.

braveheart, yes, freeeedom. or last samurai, ken watanabes last scene.

cruel intentions. gotta love sebastian ;)

theres a documentary film where you know they will die and i cant think of it.
i shall return when i think of it.

I might have cried if I had payed to watch Pearl Harbour.
I nearly did when I payed to watch Troy AKA "weekend at Hectors".
I could understand how someone could get upset seeing United 93 if they thought it was based on a true story

The ending of Das Boot is powerful stuff (the directors cut ending, not the short one).

Agree with Godzilla, I like Godzilla, Godzilla should be seen as the defender of the people from giant robots, apes and the ever devious Mothra.

Films that no metter how many times I see them I can't help but cryduring Serenity, The Lord of the Rings, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Brotherhood, Pan's labyrinth.

The last episode of Babylon 5 also. Every time I see it I cry like a baby.I remember watching it on Sci Fi the day they aired it and crying. Rewatching ti with my Dad later that night on VHS I cried a second time. Also watching the last episode of Stargate was quite emotional. My brother insisted that he had to watch the soccer and I ended up in a horrible mood because I had to miss it. Watched it a few days later as I wanted to see it on TV not download it and got all choked up. Okay, fine I cried.

donnie darko's ending plays at the heartstrings, especially with mad world as a backing track(pre-xmas number 1)

Dunno if I've ever burst out crying at a film but have left with a lump in my throat or a single tear. Here are some that got to me...

    1. The Wind that Shakes the Barley
    2. King Kong (Peter Jackons version)
    3. Requiem for a Dream

Definitely agree with both of those two. Grave of the Fireflies remains the saddest film I have ever seen.

The end of Cinema Paradiso always gets me too.

one film that really plucked my heartstrings was The Green Mile, but I have had lumps in my throat from other films like Casablanca (fantastic film) and The Wind That Shakes The Barley

I cried at the start of Titanic when I realised there was ****ing hours of this **** left to go!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,925 ✭✭✭Otis Driftwood

Ive never outright cried but every time I watch Once Were Warriors (seen it at least 15 times) it brings a severe lump to my throat.

Cant figure the damn spoiler tags so I wont put in what I mean for those that havnt seen it,but those that have know what Im on about - scenes around 10 to 15 minutes from the end -

Also The Sea Inside really pulls at the old heart strings too.
It really shows Javier Bardems credentials as one of the best actors around today.

On the animated front ... Monster Inc. gets me everytime, closely followed by Finding Nemo
The burst of pride that Nemo has when he finds out about his dads travels to rescue him

    Kitty !
