Not a bad day all in all. Maxed at 13.9c after 3pm. Minumum was 3.1c before 6.30am. Total rain was 0.8mm from a shower after 9pm. Nice sunny spells throughout. I see the bluebells are starting to flower. Hope to go down the woods this weekend with the camera.

As I left Wexford, just south of Gorey at 5:30 am this morning it was raining very heavily, the edge of this "cloud" seemed to be around Beehive pub. From there on it was a glorious sunny morning. Sunny south east how are you !

That rain was here too, gone now. Plenty of cloud which has the look of showers once the temp rises.

    Much milder down here.
We had that rain spoken about in the post above.

Currently there is a moderate rain shower (2nd or 3rd this morning).
Quite breezy too gusting above 20mph SSE in the showers.

There are quite a few cb's in evidence.

Raining cats and dogs now according to the Davis console.
    33.3mm/hr absolutely lashing with hail

I thought the winking weatherman last night said these showers today were to be mainly in the northern half of the country...

Just had a REALLY heavy hail shower here. Now its raining heavy and the sun is out. Water is flowing down the road outside the house - Havn't seen that in a while...

Lashed hail here too from a broken cloudy sky. Very localised and the hail was medium sized too.

Nothing here, just a couple of light showers, barely enough to wet surfaces.

Indeed,I was in Tullow today-beautifully sunny skies and the car temp reading 19c(Nice branty new Tesco there I see...I bet the local corner shops aren't happy!)
I got a call from longford to say their car temp was reading 22c up there.

As I climbed over the hills towards the East coast and back towards arklow, the car temp at 3pm had dropped back to 14c! Still in blue sunny skies but up at 800ft or so in full wind from the Irish sea about 5 miles east of there.
I see the peak here was only 14.7c-unsurprising as the wind at ground level here off the sea was hitting almost 30mph)
Fully cloudy now with spots of light rain.

Wet at times earlier, now sunny and drying out. Warm

Got 7.8mm of rain since midnight. Sunny with fair weather cloud now. 16.3c and looking sweet.

Alot of the rain seems to have come in two sharp downpours - at 4am and just before 8am. Would anyone know if there were thunderstorms in that front?

Now like summer, still drying out though. It must have come down last night.

    Mike.

    @Danno.
Have screenshots of the triangulated lightning from earlier on and in some instances a 1985 type set up was in the making, well not here but the UK. Humid and moist air was advected north from the Bay of Biscay and a squall line developed this morning (7am) over east Wales.

Meanwhile temp is at 19.1c now but a hint of a sea breeze developing now with wind slightly backing into the SE from a SW direction most of the morning.

    Official 20.4C max so far.

This is actually the earliest in year to record 20C+, previous was 12th May.

But to put it in perspective, I've recorded 19.6C in March.

    REcords back to 1999

20.8c now with a gust of wind that came outa nowhere (22mph) odd.
Slight breeze from the SW and then that gust from the SE and now back to SW. Almost as if the seabreeze is tryin to knock on the door here but is losing atm.:D

20.9C now like MM, my highest temp for the first half of May.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 372 ✭✭Weather BOFH

Reached 22.1C around 4pm here, down now to 21.6C in a light SW breeze.

More of this please over the comming months! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Maxed out at 18.8c here today. A bit on the breezy side taking from the enjoyment of it. Hopefully it will be less breezy tomorrow then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

    Max of 21.3c
    20.5c atm

Out in Howth and there was still nothing of a seabreeze either.
    Glorious day and very warm.

On the 9 Weather, they had the official max of 19.9C in the Phoenix park today.
Was your 20.4C from AWS and not from your screened MM? I was surprised your data was not included.:)

It seems the east of the country fared better in temps today than the rest of the country.
Unofficially i recorded my highest ever May temp today at 21.3C and out in Howth harbour today i had a 20.7C from the digital thermo at 16z

Something pretty rare happened over Waterford City today - there was not a single cloud not even a stray passing one.

    Mike.

    Screen max 20.4C
    AWS 20.7C

The screen is the official figure, and I send this data in at end of month, unless I happen to email it, but really, nice as 20C is, it's not exceptional in May

    Finner had 20.2C yesterday

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,150 ✭✭✭Deep Easterly

Max of 18.5c today, actually slightly cooler than yesterday's max of 18.9c despite the near constant sunshine. (Yesterday was mostly cloudy!!). Like Danno mentioned, the strong breeze took the enjoyment out of it. In fact, felt positively chilly in the city this afternoon. (not sure what official temp was there, but car temp reading 21-23c, I.e wrong!!

We need an easterly/south easterly here, south westerlies are ****e.:)
    Current readings:

    7.9c
    87%rh
    1023.0 mb rising.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

See breeze has already kicked in.

Clear 14.4C having been 14.8C a few minutes a go.

A cool night with slight grass frost.

    Min below 5C

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Much cloudier but still sunny warm and bright.
