Hi guys, first time posting in her, go easy LOL

im looking to tone up the body and get rid of a small belly thats stuck to me!

i wouldnt class myself as overweight in anyway but would really like to tone up.

i have a set on dumbells at home and would like some advice on how to start using them, ie. how many should i do, and for how long etc etc

i play for a football team so am pretty active to be honest, but can never seem to lose the bit of belly!

    any advice greatly apreciated.

The most important thing if you want to get rid of your belly is diet. The stickies at the top pretty much have all the information you need on that front. Others would be better equipped to advise you further.

When you are lifting weights, list as heavy as you can manage safely. If I ever got my hands on the idiot who said women would get bulging muscles if they lift weights that aren't pink, I would beat him to death with my pink dumbbell.

Go for full body compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench press, dips, lunges, wood chopper, stiffleg deadlift (great for bums), shoulder press, etc. They will shift your belly far quicker than endless sit-ups. Pick the heaviest weight you can manage with good form for around 10 reps and do three sets. You may find your weights are a bit light for squats and deads, but chances are you have something in the house that is heavier. A green bag full of books?

Have a look at this site http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/ Lots of great info for women here.

I thought you were female too...

Hint for the future dude - don't use the words 'tone up', either in written or verbal format :D

Sorry about that, but it was the "Tone up" thing. Most guys want to get muscular. Most girls want to look toned. I want to get muscular and all I get is "toned".
