Hey just looking for some advice maybe,

I am triathlon training and suddenly have developed a sharp pain in my left knee when running :(, I do not know if it is impact related, and I am gonna try it on an eliptical trainer just to see if it kicks in.

Has anyone had a problem like this or any advice for me? It hurts quiete a bit when I bend it but is fine to walk on,

    Are you still growing?

I had this back when I was around 12: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood-Schlatter_disease and it sounds vaguely similar.

Best see a doctor I'd say.

I had something similar with my right knee last year when triathlon training. I reckon it was down to putting too much emphasis on the quads when cycling and running. Tight quads were pulling the knee out of position.

My right knee was also slightly sore when squatting, as I was just learning the exercise and not going deep enough (using quads, but not hamstrings).

Since I've started deadlifting (conventional and stiff leg) I haven't had this knee pain anymore as hamstrings are getting more built up.

    My 2c.

Just a point on the Osgood-Schlatter disease, it is something I went through too and I haven't looked at that article but for me it was characterised by hard formations just below the knees.

IMO having read gabgab's log etc I'd be more inclined to what BossArky is saying about imbalances in muscles. I do get a slight pain in my left knee on long runs sometimes, never enough to stop and it doesn't persist after run has finished or into next run so I just ignore it.

As usual, if problem persists then seek professional help...

Well my hamstrings are very tight, touching my toes is a problem, so I might look at some deadlifts, then stretch after it before running to loosen them up and see how it goes,

I am worried though because my first race is in 30 days,
