Advice on getting in shape

Okay, basically my goal is to burn most of my torso fat away between now and the end of the summer. I'm just not sure how to go about it, exercise wise. I joined a gym last year, but I always found myself getting caught up in school work and putting it off at almost every opportunity. One of the big problems was that the gym was inconvenient for me to get to and I'd have to set aside about two or three hours of the day which is difficult with my leaving cert coming up.

Right now, I'm thinking of investing in something like a treadmill which would be convenient and easy to fit into my day so I would make use of it quite often. Though I plan to make frequent use of the UCD gym later in the year and am not sure if it would be a worthwhile investment in such a case. Really, I'm just wondering if there are any other options that would suit my needs better (besides going for a run down the road).
