Hi there, just wondering if anyone has used Curves gyms & wondered what they thought of them?
I eat healthily & walk daily with my dog, but am interested in getting more involved in exercise to tone up & get fit & maybe loose a few pounds whilst I'm at it! I'm not the sort who would normally be into gyms, but I like the sound of this women-only 30 minute workout format. Anyway, would love to hear from anyone who's tried it...

Try a Search, it's been discussed extensively including this one very recently

I joined one, and stopped using it within a month. You can't vary any of the equipment, and it gets very boring very quickly. I do go to a real gym (Northwood) and I use that all the time. Lots of different ways to work your body there, and some nice eye candy to keep you occupied during it.

Also, Curves is expensive. Typically, it costs around 39 euro a month, plus joining fee, so over 500 euro for a crappy little gym that often doesn't even have a proper shower. For a lot less, you could join a gym with a pool, sauna, masses of cardio equipment, lots of dance and aerobic and spin classes, and lots of proper weight machines and free weights.

Well, if you are going to be there, flexing and stretching and sweating, you can't blame a girl for looking.....

Hi i was in it about two years ago for a few months, never seemed to lose weight (which was what i wanted) but my arms (only part of my body) did get very toned. Never went for a few weeks and when i went back they weighed me i had lost half a stone, so quit then!
I know a woman though, that was going for months, stayed the same weight but dropped two dress sizes, I suppose everyone is different.

It probably suits some people.. While not for me, my mother in law went 3 times a week and she loved it. She's in her mid sixties, and she would have NEVER joined a regular gym. She really noticed her progress when she went to play badminton and she had extra strength while playing around with her grandkids.
We all noticed how 'toned' her arms looked - she's fairly slim anyway.

I suppose, if it's convenient and you have enough self-motivation then you'll probably get better results from going to the gym. Meanwhile if Curves is very handy for you - and you know you'll go 3 times a week, then maybe it's a good idea.

At the end of the day the best option is the one you will stick at!
