Ankle injury flaring up during Squat - advice?

I injured my ankle playing football last October. It was a fairly serious injury and kept me from playing football for over 2 months. At this stage I thought it was nearly fully healed - I don't really notice it at all any more, but I can still feel that there was an injury there (that's the only way I can explain it).

Anyway, I've started doing a lot more squats recently, and am know noticing that the foot with the old injury tends to point more outward than forward, and there is a slight pinch at the front of the ankle joint at the full depth of the squat when trying to drive out. There is an awkward feeling, and today this seemed worse than the last day.

Any tips on this? Should I just strap up the ankle?

I think you should talk to a physio.

But if I was in your position I'd probably end up strapping it until the pain went away....

Yea I've booked in with the Physio to see what he says, the appointment is not till the 6th May so I'll just strap it until then.

I'm hoping it's just a lack of flexibility that will get better the more I squat rather than worse. I don't want it to slow my progress though :(
I could feel it slightly on the Deadlift today as well, which I haven't noticed before.

You should go and see a professional.

Woking through pain is all well and good, working through pain the appears to be getting professional worse is a bit silly.
