Body Composition Scale Wanted

Hello all, I'm usually to be found on the Sligo board, but as this question is more up your alley(s) then I figured I'd ask here!

I'm looking for personal recommendations for a scale that will measure my different body tissue compositions, ie, tell me if I'm losing fat/gaining muscle, bone etc.

I'm looking to spend in the environs of 40-60 euro, and if possible would like to find something online that can be delivered as Sligo is teeny and probably won't have any of the stores you would tell me to visit :)

    Argos have those scales bro.

But you're better off just taking photos and trying to get your hands on a decent bodyfat calipers.

Those machines are horribly inaccurate at best. I was told that i was 8% when i'm in fact closer to 15-16%.

    No Argos in Sligo...

Also, I don't think I'm at the calliper stage yet - it's difficult to do your own measurements accurately and I am SO not ready for someone else to pinch my inches.

Essentially since I've started doing free weight exercises at home I've somewhat plateaued and I want to be sure that this is due to additional muscle, not that I need to rejig the diet or that I'm retaining water.

As Wood said, those bodyfat composition tests - even "high accurate" ones - have a tendancy to be inaccurate.

Weekly photos under the same lighting condition will act as a better guideline to whether your shape is changing for the better.

If your routine has plateaued you can post it here (along with diet) and we'll critique for you. How long have you been on it? What was your weight/diet like when you started, etc.

    but... shiney! technology! do want!

alright. I'll take the photos. :(

(Though I'll probably get a scale anyway just for the craic - even if it's largely inaccurate, it'll still go in the right general direction as I go along)

It hasn't plateaued that much, I've just slowed down a lot since I started to exercise. I'm simply impatient :p (Although not in the "lose 10 lbs in a week" bandwagon diet sense... I KNOW it takes time. It's just hard for my strange little brain to accept)

I got this one recently, partly for fun, partly to keep an eye on my bones. You need to use it at the same time and under the same conditions each time, or you'll get varying readings.

Stay away from electronic stuff. Get a good calipers off ebay ti wont be 100% accurate but it will be reasonably consistent which is the main thing.
