How does the gear in Heroics compare to Kara? And i'm assuming +1500 healing is good for most heroics?
Am having no problems healing heroics on my priest with 1,300 +heal. So you should be fine :)

My gear is all PvE stuff apart from S1 shoulders though, so I have a rather healthy amount of mana regen and my priest is specced 23/38/0 imp DS.

I dunno about not wanting hunters in groups. As soon as i log in every evening i get people nagging me to go to heroics or kara. Granted, there is no need for a hunter in some instances like mgt as a mage or rogue would be prefered, as their CC last alot longer.

Glad to see you get out of the game.

I plan on quitting once I see BT. And then i'll probably reinstate the accoutn when WotLK comes in.

I think history willl look back on MMOs as a bad thing.

lol, I can probably guess what you're going to say here but care to elaborate?

Yeah but im way too attached to my hunter, i even still use my original ghostlands cat. And unless your really good hunters in arena is a rarity, well ive never tried really because i dont have s1 yet.

Heh, I'm still using my cat from Stranglethorn as well, the game just wouldn't feel the same without him...

Since posting in this thread a few weeks ago I got hooked on the game once again (grinding for gold for my epic flyer at the mo)
    There really is no escape!

I don't think there is a need to elaborate. I'd probably have to go to the elaboration sub-forum :)

Put simply, MMOs (warcraft for example) are good for certain things, team-work, learning to work to an end-goal, leadership even.

But the amount of time people put into these games is not a good thing either. Even as a casual player of the game, I have clocked up about 50 days (maybe more) of play in a year and a half. So about a 10th of my life over the last ytear and a half (including work and sleep) has been spent playign WoW.

Now I have a girlfriend, I have a job, I have a life outside of WoW but there are other people for whom life IS WoW. How is a person who spends all of their time in game supposed to learn how to interact with people in RL. The real world does not work in terms of lols, pwn, l33ts etc... While people may gain confidence with their social typing skills, they will suffer in the long run.

There are other reasons but unfortunately, I have to do some work today so I can play warcraft this evening :)

As with everything, moderation should be maintained. But the game itself does not lend itself to moderation.

    So RL social interaction

Fair points, was having the same conversation with a guy from my guild last night about this. Think it came out of a discussion about me making an alt i'd actually try to level to 70 as I only have one lvl 70 char at the moment. Whereas most in my guild have at least 2 or 3 lvl 70 chars apart from myself and this fellow who thinks its a bit sad to have more than 1 kitted out main. I'm just reluctant to invest any more time into the game only for me to not like the new char I make apart from the obvious fact that it is a bit of a time sink.

I'm kind of getting bored of my paladin at the moment. We're currently progressing through MH but I reckon when I get to see the remaining bits of the game i.e. BT and possibly sunwell (gear depending) i'd like to maybe move off the game altogether. The repetitive daily quests do my head in and I constantly find myself bored stupid with questing.

So with teh above in mind, i've decided to make a mage haha.... wondering whether I should level it on the server my main char is on (Silvermoon - PVE) or whether I should start it on a pvp server to possibly add a different element into the game? Thoughts anyone?

I sometimes feel like i'm missing out on something with world pvp missing? Would leave my main on Silvermoon as it's the best server i've been on for raiding and is probably the most progressed in the EU.

Well if you feel the need to get another lvl 70 character, why not save yourself the 10-12 days played and use the power leveling glitch in the dungeons. Im sure your guildies would help as having another high level helps the guild anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 Dellarocca

What, if you don't mind me asking, is the powerlevelling glitch in dungeons? You still get the same xp with high levels party members as with people the same level as you?

This is pretty much rubbish. Very few people spend all of their time in game and to the conclusion that because some people do, MMO's are a bad thing is flawed logic. As for everyone else, there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing WoW for a few hours after work rather than spending it in front of the TV, in fact given much of the ****e that people watch it probably alot better for you in numerous ways.

That's exactly the attitude that I used to have. And it's wrong.

I don't watch TV and playing WoW is my telly substitute. But I can turn off the TV easier then I can WoW.

If you don't like what's on TV, you might switch it off.
If you don't like what's happening in WoW, you'll probably go do some dailies or farm some mats.

As I said, everything in moderation is ok. But WoW doesn't cater for moderation. If you want to see end-game content, you have to put the time in. Simple.

For those who just play 1-2 hours a night, I applaud you. You are a rare breed.

Is your own logic not flawed given that you presume the only alternative to playing WoW in the evenings is watching TV?

So what? Its perfectly possible to raid at a serious level and play around 20 hours a week.

I completely agree with you about moderation, but you have a very different definition of excess to me. I can't see how playing for 3 hours a day is any worse than watching tv, or reading, or whatever else people enjoy doing in their spare time.

Obviously I'm fully aware that their are other alternatives to playing WoW in the evenings, and watching TV was just an example for comparative purposes. It is however a good example, as it is by a mile the most common way of spending free time in this country. It was suggested that playing WoW will have a negative effect on people's 'social interaction'. I was simply making the point that it doesn't.

I know a-lot of people were wow has taken over their lives. 3 people in one family which is kind of said & very close to were i live. They are all educated and went to 3rd lvl. Now all 3 of them are at home playing wow late into the night. One of the brothers has been at this for 3 years.

I know others who have dropped out of college because of it. And in my own guild their are loads of people who dont work, who dont go to college but just stay at home all day and play the game.

But yes the vast majority i hope its not like that :). I my self have cut down big time on the game. Kind of getting tired of it to be honest.

im off it 6 months now... no looking back. Arena's and charity epics ****ing ruined wow, i loved to raid but there was shag all point with the eejits running around in full arena gear after 4 weeks of a new seasion.

The shadow still surges through my veins though, ill take my warlock out of hibernation one day.

Been clean for a year now. Still keep track of the old Guild 2 bosses down in pursuit of KJ at the mo. Also keep track of the world 1st scene.

Still got the account, still pay the sub lol, but aside from popping in a couple of times to say hello I have not raided or run an instance in a year.

I am now so undergeared that its easy not to go back, can't live with raiding with noobs tbh.

The next expansion will be a challenge though, the slate wiped clean again, easy to get back into it on level terms etc etc

I guess time will tell. I quit because it took to much time and was unfair on my wife and kids, the same reasons still apply now. I am an all or nothing kinda person, casual raiding and the inherent nubness of it doesnt appeal, but hardcore raiding required a minimum of 40 hours a week (or it used to with the consumables grinding....thats changed somewhat since I quit) between grinding and raiding.

Therein lies the WoW paradox - there is no happy medium, it's either obsessive or pointless.....at least to me anyways.

I havent raided in months, and cancelled my subscription last month as a result of the disapointment which is the sunwell isle.

And i aint looking back, i have zero cravings to play the game. Its just not fun anymore, and WOTLK will have to make alot of big changes if it wants to hook me back in, which i doubt it will.

Although since ive stopped playing i find i have alot of free time that i dont know what to do with :P Cant seem to find a good game to pick up and start playing :(

When I quit, I purposely made it as difficult as possible to go back to it.

I had a few thousand in gold and more in gear and mats.
I gave away all the gear and mats that I could.
I sharded anything else that was bound to me.
I gave away a few good chunks of my gold to friends (who insisted they'd pay it back with interest WHEN I returned).

It was around Christmas( the Christmas before last ), I stuck on a Santa costume thing and went to various starting points and gave away gold to newbies. It was surprisingly hard to actually give the gold away, people were very suspicious for some reason. :p

With the last 250g I set up shop in Ironforge(outside the AH) and exchanged gold for jokes(Tell me a good joke and get a piece of gold). The lag was horrible as I'd gathered a large crowd but funny none the less.

When all the gold was gone, I said my goodbyes, logged off, cancelled the subscription, uninstalled the game and binned the discs.

I haven't been back since, although I do still find myself thinking about it from time to time but as has been mentioned already it's not possible to play for an hour or two, from time to time.

    Killian

Thats a great story:) I was trying to think of a way to "End" my toons i took 2 of them on a suicide mission to orgimmar and let the horde kill me and my corpse now lies in there somewhere. Gonna make a video for youtube about it if i can make it interesting.

Ive just canceled my sub for the first time in 2 years. I think i done just about everything in Wow that i could. All there was left to do was PVP and thats just not fun anymore.

Ive no urge back but i dont know if i can resist WOTLK..
