Jordan Morgan and Joe Hachem were involved in a hand that went into the break. In the end, Hachem made a lay down that one professional claimed is "the worst fold in the history of poker."

Jordan Morgan raises to 700 and is called by three players including Joe Hachem on the button.

The flop comes A-7-4 and everyone checks. The turn is a 6 and Morgan bets 2,000. Hachem quickly raises to 7,000. Morgan takes a few moments and reraises to 12,000. Hachem puts in yet another reraise to 22,000. Then Morgan moves all in for 49,000 total, another 27,000 more to Hachem.

Hachem has roughly 27,000 in his stack, and it is unclear who has who covered. Hachem tanks for several long minutes, thinking things over. Eventually, Hachem asks, "You got 8-5 kid?"

After another minute passes or so, Hachem mucks 5-3 for the second nut straight. The table and the crowd that has formed are stunned, and Morgan tables pocket aces.

After the hand, Morgan is up to 96,300. Hachem is sitting with just under 25,000.

he's raising with 58 in early pos and betting a flop like that 4 hand, what a muppet of a laydown.... its like looking for a reason to fold, a set would be the hand I would have him on, otherwise Joe gave him far to much respect, or had earn a lot of respect

20% of field getting paid, pretty sick and will turn people away from this event next year. I read recently that some people recking on 5% get paid to make the game more profitable for better players, ie 10th gets paid twice as much as the old system

5% could be a good idea but I think payout structures should be a little flatter at the top to discourage deals

    From Cardplayer......

Nam Le was originally seated at the same table as his brother, Allen, but they were separated because they were in the same family. Some tournament directors separate family members, while others let the random draw fall where it may. There are good arguments for both sides, but regardless, Nam Le and his brother are now separated.

    Never heard of that before??!!

The story goes that their parents taught it was a good idea to give them different names.
They felt if they were both called Allen it could be a little confusing, hence they came up with a second name "Nam".

Maybe one was named after the war and the other after the old West Ham player...youngest player to play at an FA Cup Final at Wembley?

    Negreanu's Bustout Hand
It's safe to say that Daniel Negreanu will be blogging about this one.

After a flop of 1094, Brian Rast bets 65,000 from the big blind, and Daniel Negreanu moves all in from middle position for 189,000.

Then Dino French moves all in from late position for 195,000.

Then Saifuddin Ahmad moves all in from the button for about 290,000. (I didn't have time to count his stack, so that's an approximate.)

Three players are all in, and Brian Rast stands up to think. He has the other players covered, but he certainly didn't expect this to happen when he bet 65,000 with his straight draw.

Rast had 87 for an open-ended straight draw, and he obviously knew that he was behind. At best, he had eight outs to the straight, and if someone had a flush draw, he'd have six outs. If he calls, the pot would be worth 1.1 million.

Rast called, later saying, "I call because ... what the hell, you gotta get chips somehow, right?"

    Here's what everyone showed:

    The Board: 1094

    Brian Rast: 87 (straight draw)
    Daniel Negreanu: JJ (overpair)
    Dino French: 1010 (top set)
Saifuddin Ahmad: 109 (top two pair)

There were no flush draws, but Negreanu had two of Rast's outs, so there were six cards that could give him the pot. Ahmad could only win with running nines, and Negreanu needed a runner-runner straight or full house to win. (Because a jack alone would give Rast a jack-high straight.)

Dino French was in a very strong position. He needed to avoid two jacks, four sixes, and a couple of runner-runner miracles to win a huge pot.

Is everyone keeping up so far?

The turn card is the Q. Ahmad is now drawing dead with his two pair, and Negreanu picks up an open-ended straight draw of his own.

Negreanu needs a king or an eight. Rast needs a jack or a six. And Dino French will win with any other card in the deck.

The river card is the ...

    wait for it ...

    J.

Negreanu makes a set of jacks at the worst possible time. If Brian Rast had folded his straight draw, Negreanu would have won the pot to catapult himself to more than 800,000 in chips. Dino French was a big favorite on the turn, but he's left with nothing but a great story and $39,570.

It takes a few moments to sort everything out, but here's the end result:

Brian Rast wins the pot with his jack-high straight, contending for the chip lead with 1.11 million.

Daniel Negreanu is eliminated in 76th place, earning $39,570.

Saifuddin Ahmad is eliminated in 75th place, earning $39,570.

Dino French is eliminated in 74th place, earning $39,570.

While Rast was stacking his chips, someone asked him about the call, and that's when he said, "I call because, what the hell, you gotta get chips somehow, right?" Negreanu added, "It's a pretty automatic call."

And this concludes the longest single-hand update in WPT history
