The Guinness book shows that electro~bitch's record for staying up without cat naps is 36 hours, so there's the goal to beat!

Wait a minute! Was that a book I read or a pint I drank last night?

My personal best is 51 hours, I then went home for 2 hours sleep then got up and went in for a 12 o'clock lecture and stayed up the rest of the day till 20:30

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

I did this yesterday.... wait... I mean... Thursday?

Thursday I woke up...... then I went to bed on Sataurday Morning at 5am.... Then I got up on saturday at 2pm....and Im still up.

So its been crazy. I was half thinking about going to bed as soon as i had one last look in AH. thanks for posting this thread you bastard :D now I want to stay up too - we can use the buddy system!

My personal best definitely transcends beyond 50 hours anyway. But after the first 30 you lose your internal clock to insanity so whos to know? Tee hee. By 40 Your vision is seriously impaired and words on the computer screen seem leave behind a trail/blur. If you make it to 50 your hearing and speech is also significantly impaired.

Let's hear it for sleep deprivation! Just think, if you say up long enough, you could audition for the next zombie film.

Hi, OP. I do 24-hour call in my job, and I always have patients throughout the night so I never get any sleep. I never sleep the following day either and prefer not to, opting to go to bed when my toddler goes at 8pm. If it's school holidays I'll have to mind my children, but otherwise I'll keep myself occupied by shopping, going for a coffee or doing some housework ( more of the former than the latter though!)

BTW, how did you forget to go to bed???

I am working 31 hours from Friday-Sunday. I have an 11 hour shift today. Have only had about 18 hours sleep.

Going to be an interesting day.

I dunno! I went over to my mates house about half ten, ended up not getting back til 4am, then went "I have the house to myself, shame to go to sleep", so I just kind of walked around playing music really loudly and then it was like 7am, and then I went "I'll just check bebo then I'll sleep"...and so on and so forth

Yes, time after all is relative.*

*Proof: It wasn't that long ago when my "relative" would tell me to turn off the computer and go to bed!

Shiftwork - best robber of sleep known to man, especially going from nights to days, I've had many a 30hr day because of it! :(

When you get to about the forty hour mark stand an arms lenght from a light sitch and try to quickly reach out and press it, you'll miss by about a foot, great fun.

I hate to break the news to you, but.... you're already asleep. This is just a dream....

(and yhow, exactly, do you 'forget' to go to sleep anyway...?)

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,070 ✭✭✭✭pq0n1ct4ve8zf5

I don't know, I just wasn't feeling tired, was arsing around the house doing nothing and it genuinely didn't even enter my head that I should've been in bed until more or less right before I started the thread! And if this is a dream it sucks, definitely not up to my usual standards. (I would make a "if this is a dream then where's yore ma?" comment but my brain's not working too well at the moment)

Not that I remember! Why? My balance went a little bit, fell over in the shop when I was getting the paper and some redbull, that's about it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭kelle

I wouldn't be able to stay awake if I was on Boards all day. Go and wash a floor or something.

My personal best was a bout of insomnia I got one summer!! I couldn't sleep not even with numerous visits to the doc. I didn't sleep a wink in 2 months but as soon as I got asleep I was out cold for days.
I got to clear so many playstation games that year it was great.

    Pffft, I've done 48 hours+ many a time.

This guy, however, is the true champ.

I'm doing other things too! I'm bebostalking people, reading the paper, drinking coffee, eating porridge, actively not thinking about my exams, I'm just a powerhouse of productivity today

The worst thing about lack of sleep, is the headache the size of Russia!
