Rapidshare says it's rapidshare happy hour (i.e. no download limits), just thought I'd let all those who like to pillage and loot know!

Edit: Oops, wrong forum sorry :/
Double edit: Never mind, it's gone now anyway....

It's when Rapidshare doesn't have a download limit for free users for an hour.

Normally the free users can only download one file (of up to 100MB) per hour.

On Happy Hour, you can download as much as you want for that hour.

Ah so i doesn't affect me whatsoever as a premium user. It would be nice if anything you downloaded as a premium user didn't contribute to your download limit (25GBs in 5 days) as I'm pretty close to that at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    You... pay... to... download?

    I'm sorry.. doesn't compute! ;):D

I bought a rapidshare account just over a year ago. With the amount I download and the awesome download speeds,it was definitely worth buying it.I would recommend it to anyone who is a heavy downloader

being only able to download 25 gb in 5 days is bull ive donloaded torrents that are over 50 gb so on rappidshare it would take 2 weeks and not get any other downloads

Rapidshare is brilliant, and using the forums to get links through is a great way of seeing what kind of files you're downloading before you choose which batch to get.

Definitely worth the 50squid a year imo. In fact I don't get why people go through the hassle of waiting for happy hours or trying to get ppl to download their files when a full year of downloading is so cheap:confused:

I agree.I use a particular forum with 500,000+ members for links. The links are usually up within a few hours of something airing on tv.I've never really had a problem finding anything

How well does rapidshare work on college networks? :o

    Might invest next year :)

little secret for you. after you download one part if you want to download more unplug the broadband connection from the wall plug it back in and your good to go. it also works on megaupload

That only works on short lease dhcp setups.

considering it works over http, it works quite well, very hard for sysadmins to block as well.

i'm able to pull down about 5 mega bytes a second in college.

If they decide to block rapidshare ips, you could be shagged.

ok let me rephrase part of my last post.

It's worth a shot but don't be too surprised if they shut it down. All depends on the levels of usage imo.

Ive been using my rapidshare account in college for the last year at least and ive never had any problems with it.The dl speeds are superfast!!!
Before I got a premium account I used an application to reset the time between downloads. The annoying thing is that you have to disconnect and open the application in between downloads in order to keep downloading.

Very, very nicely. Using a download manager (idm or fdm) downloading 4 parts simultaneously, the combined speeds of all four parts would be around 4-6MBps (yes bytes :)). Sometimes though it would go as high as 10MBps although it never really stayed that high for long. Only problem is with speeds like that you wouldn't be long eating into the download limit.

If you couldn't possibly do 25gb a week (like I can't) go splits on a years subscription between 2/3 of ye. €20 a year, handy.

Keep the college downloading to a minimum or it'll be gone in a second.

Whoo that sucks not being able to do 25 gig in a week i do that in a day :D thats if ive got a lot to get

How does rapidshare work?? Does it work like BitComet, Utorrent etc where you use it to download torrents from various torent sites? If not where do you get the files to download on Rapidshare?

I use torrents a lot so if Rapidshare is as easy to use as that I would buy it.

No, it works using a direct http connection to their servers at high speeds.

Questions like that could get you or someone else banned. /banbait

Easier imo. Though either aren't that hard.

its not like utorrent or other p2p software.

what you do is buy an account.
then you upload your ownfiles. they are kept private.
if you want to give them to someone to download, then you can. they are stored on a server in germany.
there are lots of places you can go to get links for stuff you want.
