I'm absolutely over the moon. I made a promise to myself that I'd make an effort this year to qualify for the WSOP so I joined pokerstars only a couple of weeks ago, played a few games on it to get used to the software including a crack at the Sunday Million (which I ran well in until I donked of my stack in a spectacular bluff).

So I entered my first sattellite for the WSOP on Tuesday night, and hey presto, in she flew. It was definately a tough one. It was a $30 rebuy with 178 runners.
1st-$12,500 package.
2nd-20th---$250.
Went to the final table in OK shape, about 3rd of 9, (I had about 140k, CL had over 400k).
For those of you who are regulars on Poker Stars, the line up was:

I wouldn't know any of them but maybe some of ye have played against them.
Anyway, after a couple of hours it got to heads up betweem myself and I'mHydrogen. We started pretty closely matched chip wise, about 650k each. Blinds were only 4k-8k so there was plenty play in it. He definately got the upper hand early on, I was pretty card dead and couldn't get a bluff through.
He got a huge chip lead, 1.25m v 250k was the worst it got for me. Blinds were still only 5k-10k so at least I didnt panic, which I was happy with.

I think I got on top then for a while and doubled through with a lock hand after the flop to get back to roughly levels. One thing I noticed about him was that when he had the chip lead, he wanted to play passively and see as many flops as he could while when he was behind in chips, he played extremely aggressively.
All in all, the heads up lasted over an hour. I had the chat off so I had no idea whether he was talking to me, whether a deal was possible or anything like that. I just wanted to win it, although with only $250 for 2nd, there was a lot of pressure.

I got to the front and decided that I'd keep the pressure on him. I knew he would play aggressively when behind so I kept reraising him. The chip stacks went to 850k for me and 450k for him. I was after raising and reraising him off the last three pots preflop(blinds 10k-20k) when the final hand happens. I'll post it for anyone interested:

The river card-- the beautiful, delicious 4c.

Its 5.50am, coffee table, lamps and anything moveable get turned upside town with the height of jumping/dancing/hugging/celebrations.
Fcuk, this feels good. (Can't imagine the athmosphere in Athens!!)

Anyway, that about sums it up. I'm really thrilled with the amount of goodwishes I've got on here. Let me be 1st to admit that any improvements in my game(if indeed there are any) are as a direct result of my involvement in this poker forum. (I dont frequent any other one). I consider the advise on here as invaluable and for those begrudgers that say boards isn't a help, get yere heads out of yere arses and frequent our boards family. (I consider it a family type of forum rather than a clique).
