hey i have a weight watchers weighing scaled

but when i stand on it , it differs somewhat

i was wondering is it possible for this to happen if the battery is low ??

and this is on a wooden floor , used to be v accurate in fairness , but not sure why its happenning now

Easy way to find out, change the batteries.

Also, the floor could make a difference. A hard level floor is best, carpet or slope can cause problems.

I have used a WW scale which also did BF% and I dropped about 6lb when the battery was low. They use load cell transducers, which change voltage with load, so a lower voltage from a worn battery gives lower readings. Translation- get a new battery;)

The one I saw was ridiculous since it used a coin type battery, should have a good 4AA's IMO.

Have you got weights or a heavy object close to your own wieght?

Weigh this with new batteries and not the weight. Then in future if you doubt a reading, stick your plates or object back on and see if the reading is the same. If it is off get a new battery or adjust your own reading accordingly. i.e. if 80kg of plates reads 75kg. And you stand on and the reading is 90kg, it is more likely you are 95kg.

also weight your self in the same "condition", e.g. in the raw in the morning, before you have eaten and are hydrated (not after a night on the booze)

You're diet is better than mine anyway mate, keep it up.

If you do give in to something you shouldnt, like chocolate or whatever, deal with it. Don't go eating sh1te again the next day and the day after.
Thats the best advice I can give. Dont starve yourself either. If you are really hungry, eat something. Your body may need it.

Don't get too obsessed with the scales either. Your body naturally varies weight wise so if it looks like a poor week or whatever don't worry. Ideally don't weigh yourself every week though.

    Best of luck!

im questioning my scales too.. battery is only new and its on a flat surface

but for instance when I got up this morning i weighed myself and i was 10st 9.6lb (all i was wearing was a tshirt)

then i had breakfast, tea, 2 slices of toast and a boiled egg.. went to the gym, done 20mins had a piece of fruit on my way back and weighed myself again (fully clothed with runners) and I was 11st 1.2 lb - should clothes make that much of a difference, do i have a rubbish scales or does weight just vary that much throughout the day?

Clothes - and the tea, toast, egg, fruit and the water you drank during your workout.

guess that makes sense, I still find it strange that i varies so much..
makes me wonder what my "actual" weight is

First thing in the morning, after you've peed, before you dress. That's likely to be the most consistent base line. Even that will vary, depending on time of month and how salty your last couple of meals were.

I think the best option is just to weigh yourself once a week at the same time , usually i do it sat morn .
Weighing yourself every day will you will drive yourself crazy.

You found it strange that breakfast, a piece of fruit, and all your clothes weighed 5.6lbs
That's nor really all that heavy tbh.

Aye, remember that water weight in litres tranlates directly to kilos: 1l of water = 1kg, or 2.205lbs.

I drink 5-10 litres of water a day and my weight can vary by well over half a stone at any given time.

    10L a day
That's way too much. I really hope that you are miscalculating that,

No, I drink from pint glasses so I'd have a good idea of where I'm at.

I know there's the danger of water poisoning but I've been doing this for years before I even became familiar with the concept. If I were drinking that amount over the course of a few hours there'd be a definite risk of overhydration, but I space it throughout the course of the day. The only downside I've experienced is I have to piss a lot.

I have a failry massive appetite and it's the best way I've found to fill the gap somewhat. If there are any potential negative health effects bar acute toxicity I'd be happy to hear them.

20 pint glasses still seams a lot in a day. (I know a pint is >500ml, but people normally don't fully fill)
Obviously you are right that the shorter the time frame the higher the risk, but people have died from as little as 4 litres of water. If you've been doing it a while then your kidneys are probably used to it and can deal with the volume better, but whats the point.
