So started cycling to work there last thursday and friday 10 miles in and 10 miles home.

Apart from my ass being really sore I've loved in I feel much more energised thoughout my day instead of the usal 3pm nap I'm wide awake now :)

Cycled Monday and yesterday. Cycled home had dinner then went to football. Where after about 50 mins I coulsnt stand up straight as my balance had gone.

Unwisely drove to my mams (about 40 seconds away) went to bed where the room proceeded to spin for a couple of hours until i feel asleep. got up at 6 and drove home got the luas in.

Now I think I've been eating the right foods, since I started cycling I've been eating a lot

Breakfast at home: Cereal (weetabix) Toast & Glass of orange/water
Breakfast in work: Cereal (cornflakes) Toast, Sausage & Egg

Lunch in work: Lots of rice/pasta/potatoes and chicken.

    Mars bar @ 4pm :)

Dinner at home about 7 which is usually chicken or something involving chicken.

I didnt cycle in today asI felt ropey. I had been trying to keep my sugar intake low as I dont want to come off a sugar rush on my cycle home.

Have I been overdoing the cutting out of the sugar? I had a few hot chocs today with lots of sugar and I feel fine now.

Sorry for the long post, any advice?

    go to a doctor.

it could be vertigo, i get it the odd time, it's not a huge deal, but really when its happening you should be staying the house, bar going to the doctor :)

Thanks for the advice but the last time it happened was years ago when I was sitting in my house watching TV, I just thought I might have overdone it with the exercise and thats whats wrong.

Your level of activity is not fully supported by the complex carbohydrates you're getting from foods like wheat and rice... Blood sugar levels can drop sharply with such exercise, and it would take a lot of endurance training to be able to cope with the hypoglycaemia. I'd duggest that you drink lucozade or other glucose product while your level of activity is so high... i don't mean gallons of the stuff, just perhaps a 500ml bottle ahead of taking your 10 mile bike ride.

Thanks Derek, I'll give that a try. I'll take it easy to start and not cycle on the day I play football.

did you go to the doctor that time?

i'm not saying it is vertigo.
sure try the lucozade route, but if it continues consider the doctor.

with vertigo i mean extermely disorientated.
i get it from time to time, maybe once a year, but it is a horrible feeling, the whole room moves, you cant focus on anything, and even walking a few steps is very difficult.
hence the dont leave the house thing.
    was it like that?

I didnt go to the doctor the first time as I pretty much just went to bed and woke up a few hours later and I was fine.

But yes that is how I was I was standing in the hall pretty much supporting myself to stop from falling over, not a nice feeling at all.
