I am 5ft2' and i weigh 8st 12 and i am obsessed with my weight .. i did the educo gym but cheated on the diet so while i lost 5lbs in the first week i put it all back on in the second .. , so i joined a normal gym but i cant seem to muster the energy to go there , the thoughts of finding my way around a new gym just make me want to curl up and hide but i cant stand the thoughts of dieting so would rather gym it than skip it !
How can i find the motivation to go ?

If you lost 5lbs in one week you must have been really putting in a lot of effort, so you were probably burned out by the second. Try coming up with a strict but do-able exercise and diet plan, and then sticking with it. Instead of losing 5lb in one week and then putting it on the next week, lose 1lb a week for 5 weeks. You will be learning a new routine for diet and exercise and hopefully you'll be more inclined to keep up that routine.

Firstly, you're a perfectly healthy weight and admitting to being "obsessed" with it is probably not such a good thing. Constantly monitoring your weight fluctuations will inevitably lead to less progress and not more - I've been there, it's not fun at all.

I'm guessing you're thinking something along the lines of "if only I can lose x lbs then I'll look great/ be thin/ feel happy". Meh, bullshit. You're a good, healthy weight just the way you are. Setting yourself ultimatums like the above is a recipe for disaster and it's hard for anyone to stay motivated that way. All you have to do is check out any gym for the first two weeks in January ;)

Instead, why not tell yourself that the reason you want to go to the gym is to get fitter and be healthy. Exercise for exercise's sake, not with weight loss as a primary goal. One of hte best side-effects of working out is, of course, weight loss, but there's a lot of *very* good reasons that aren't so apparent:
Why Exercise? It may sound like a rhetorical question, but why should you exercise? Seriously, why?? I’d happily bet a months’ wages that more than half the responses would be “To lose weight!”. Obviously that’s a great side effect of exercise but this isn’t always enough of a reason to keep you motivated. But aside from weight-loss, there’s some amazing reasons why we should keep active, and it’s actually those reasons that I tend to turn to when I’m questioning why I should bother getting my arse in gear…

    1. Exercise improves your moodIt promotes the release of endorphins, the body’s “feel-good” chemicals and helps beat stress. And another side effect of looking and feeling better from exercise it’ll also boost your confidence with your new-found super-body. No matter how crappy I feel before I leave the house, I know that ten minutes into my training I’ll feel on top of the world and it’s always worth the initial effort to get that feeling.

    2. Exercise combats chronic diseases
Regular exercise can help you prevent/ manage high blood pressure, boosts HDL (good) cholesterol and lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol, and helps prevent type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer. It can also help combat depression and keeps your mental health in check.

    4. Exercise strengthens your heart and lungs
Your heart is a muscle, and like all muscles benefits from regular exercise. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues encouraging your heart and lungs to work more efficiently, so you'll have more energy to do the things you enjoy.

    5. Exercise promotes better sleepRegular exercise can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep. The timing is up to you — but if you're having trouble sleeping, you might want to try late afternoon workouts. The natural dip in body temperature five to six hours after you exercise might help you fall asleep.

    6. Exercise can put the phwoaaarrrr back into your sex life
Regular exercise can leave you feeling energized and looking better, which can have a positive effect on your sex life. It’ll also improve your circulation, which can lead to more satisfying sex. And men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than are men who don't exercise, especially as they get older.

    7. Exercise can be fun! Seriously!!!
Exercise doesn't have to be drudgery. Take a dance class. Check out a local climbing wall or hiking trail. Join a MA class (*cough* PM Roper). Exercise with friends (*cough* ask Colm O’Reilly for something new and different). Play footie with your mates. Go for a long walk and a gossip with your girlfriends. Find an activity you enjoy, and go for it. If you get bored, try something new. If you're moving, it counts!

Thanks for the kicks :) and thanks G'em , I no im not over weight but its like i get so confused about all different diets , educo gym put me on high fat no carbs , then there is the no carb low fat , the high protein low fat and so many more then just plain calorie counting , i just get frustrated and end up obsessing about my weight and food intake then ...
maybe ill start off with a gym class and then go from there , its just so daunting going , i never had a problem before but for some reason ive hit a mental block when it comes to going ... ive joined the gym 2 months now and not gone once ....

    Trust me, so do I!!!

It doesn't matter what the diet is, if you do the following you're virtually guaranteed to feel better and look better:

Eat a lot of vegetables. By a lot, I mean as many as you want.

Eat very little or no processed foods.

Eat protein often, ideally at each meal, (eggs, lean meats, low-fat dairy)

Eat good fats each day (oily fish, nuts/nut oils, flax, seeds).

    Drink plenty of water.

If I make sure I have the above things sorted in my diet then I can start worrying over the little things. The great thing is though, after a bit of organisation and preparation, it's really very easy to stick to healthy eating and it's a reward in itself ;)

I like to eat bowls of frozen vegetables, but sometimes I find it a bit bland. What can I have with it to make it a little more interesting? Some kind of gravy substitute.

Pesto and salsa are my two favourite sauces and you could also try hummus or tabouleh?

Hang on, do you eat veg while they're still frozen? Frozen berries and fruit I've heard of, but frozen carrots and broccoli sticks is a new one :D

You mean I shouldn't eat them while frozen....? That would make them easier to swallow :D

I eat hummus, I'll try having some salsa and the other suggestions, thanks!
