Great to see it back! I'm hoping for MVP to win it.

if HHH enters it he wins with him being king of kings and all that toss and its a chance for him to bury more than one up and coming star in one night:D

Wild guess King of The Ring (havent seen this weeks Raw)

if im right maybe change "might be a spoiler" to Spoiler allert and just talk about KOTR08

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,925 ✭✭✭Otis Driftwood

KOTR was dropped cos there was 0 interest in it.Cant see how that will change.Maybe as a novelty but knowing Vince if its well received he will spunk a ball of money on it.

They better do it properly though.

People only lost interest because all the matches took place on Raw and Smackdown and only the final at the PPV itself.

It should be three rounds of matches on the night and the final match should be the main event, regardless of whether one of the world titles is being defended that night or not.

Triple H to win, then bring Steph back to TV

    "All Hail King Hunter!!"

Think Umaga will win this. It's the right way to get him back in the title picture but having said that I would want a Morrison victory

I always said getting rid of KOTR was a dumb move. It was a great way to elevate a guy in the eyes of the fans, similar to how the MITB match is now perceived.

I think Umaga winning it would be a great idea. 'King Umaga', 'Umaga the Samoan King' etc. There's a lot of good stuff you could do with it.

Only if he had a mouth piece. He needs a manager.

Punk is apparently one of the entrants...why? He already has the MITB title shot, so why would they bother putting him in the KOTR shakeup.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭Cactus Col

I wouldn't be sure if punk is an entrant. Apparently the superstars pictured aren't necessarily those who will be competing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,810 ✭✭✭DRakE

PLease let morrison win it. he needs to be wreestling for the ic title

edit: if he's even gonna be in it :|

I think Jericho could do with going over HHH clean in the final or something to give him a well needed boost. He's been luke warm since his return and this could be just the thing to get him back to the top.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,810 ✭✭✭DRakE

well hopefully jericho is gonna go heel now.. a decent run with michaels after batista would be good.. they've had great matches before

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 393 ✭✭Dickmcsavage

Would be cool if Jericho turned heel alright. Infact it would probably be better for him seeing as he's like the No.4 face (or even No. 5 if Jeff was around) on RAW at the moment. Whereas he would be heel No.2 if he was to turn heel in my mind.

the KOTR was destroyed when they let booker make a mockery of it with his voice change and everything!

^ Well I don't really look back at that tourney as a legit KOTR because for one, it was SD! only and two, I'm pretty sure that they only held the tourney so that Booker T could become King Booker.

exactly, which is why im sayin they made an absolute mockery out of what once was something to give superstars a huge push! without it, austin 3:16 wudnt have happened...and wed all be much worse off!

Looking forward to KOTR - should be good. Everyone in the o2 on Monday night seemed well pleased to hear of its return. After the show went off the air, Triple H went up and sat on the throne and did some posing for the crowd- he looked right at home!!! Wouldn't mind seeing him get it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

If only Kennedy wasn't filming some crap sequel the KOTR would be perfect for him to regain some momentum. I can see Kennedy in his robe and crown addressing 'the peons' and 'the peasants'.......gold!:D

    ALL HAIL......KING KENNEDY...............KENNEDY!!!!

But seriously it looks like MVP will be sitting on the throne come the end of the night.

I found it entertaining, what's wrong with a bit of entertainment? Besides it didn't make a mockery of the tournament at all, if anything it kept the tradition of the winner going on to greater things which in Booker's case was the WHC. It freshened up Booker's gimmick and gave him a platform to get a Championship run which he richly deserved.

I agree. I'd say during his run as King Booker he was the best heel in the WWE, definetly the most entertaining. It was a situation that never would or could have happened on Raw. Which is why I think the winner will not be a raw superstar, they don't have room for somebody fresh to be pushed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

    KOTR made Booker

It does seem likely that the winner will be MVP or Jericho or Kennedy, I can't really see anyone outside of that winning

Agreed. I don't think it will be CM Punk contrary to what many are predicting. I just can't fathom the WWE putting both the briefcase and the crown on one superstar.

I'm going to go with MVP, he was my prediction for mitb and was certainly shocked when Punk won it. MVP is someone who could pick up the 'King' gimmick and run with it.

Outside predictions would be Kennedy, Elijah Bourke or Kofi Kingston. If they put it on an established superstar then THAT would make a mockery of the KOTR.

It depends on whether the KOTR winner will get a title shot as when Lesner won it.
They may have Punk win it and then cash in the money in the bank and win the title.
It would make sense when there are so many top guys on Raw.If Kennedy etc won then there are going to be 5 or 6 guys in the title frame. It would just be messy.
Generally WWE push 1 or 2 guys at any given time. There are of course exceptions but I think if Punk won KOTR it adds credence to him winning money in the bank and makes him a genuine contender instead of someone who fluked a 6 or 7 man ladder match.

    Just my 2 cents.

A very fair take on it, I applaud you on that.

I think for many of the Punk detractors (me included) Punk didn't really have huge momentum going into it. Sure he was over but he didn't have the intense momentum that Kennedy had when he won at WM23. The next night (or maybe the next SD) Kennedy cut a great promo saying how he was going to cash in at WM24. Then injury and suspension destroyed what could quite possibly have been the most finely executed storyline in recent memory.

Punk, for me, has no momentum at all. Maybe KOTR is just what he needs but again, I can't see him wearing that crown and robe. There are only two people realistically in my mind who can make something special out of winning KOTR and they are MVP and Kennedy.

We could find Batista winning and going after Taker's title. Just have a feeling that will happen.

I think that would distract from the HBK feud. I don't think it's going to be anyone involved with something already. Although MVP would still make sense I think

Maybe - the MVP and Matt Hardy feud is back as well though. I won't say anything about tonight's Smackdown, but I still think Batista winning it is an option.

Can't see MVP winnng it TBH. I think it'll be between Umaga, Morrison and maybe Jericho

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Hendo9

Triple H will probably end up winning it due to his whole

    "King of Kings" gimmick.

    I liked the

"Kinggggggggg Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!.........................................Kennedyyyyy!" idea though, and I would love that to happen...as it could help push Kennedy to the next level, especially if he goes over certain people throughout the tournament and set up a Kennedy/Jericho final....give them a bit of promo time before hand (which would be awesome with them pair) and then let them go and see how they do...and have Kennedy tapping out when the refs down to the Walls of Jericho, then Jericho to snap and attack the replacement referee (showing his heelish side), turn round and BANG...Mic Check for the 1-2-3

Suspension. And before that injury. Both happened at the worst possible time. The injury just after the mitb win and the suspension just before his scheduled feud with HHH as McMahon's illegtimate son. The guy has had a combination of bad luck and stupidity to thank for his loss of momentum. I really hope though he wins KOTR.

god thats harsh! would have been a great angle with him as mcmahons son! id love to see him do it, he is a natural heel who could turn face if tey wanted him to) and this spots on the mic are amazing!

His spots were amazing. After two injuries and a suspension his momentum has disappeared. And that's not easy for me to say, If I was ever going to mark for someone it would be Kennedy but he has lost his confidence. His promo's are not as good as they were and his in ring abilities have decreased. KOTR is exactly what Kennedy needs to get himself back on track and I hope he wins it, I really do.

    KKK.

I have to admit, I'm quite excited about king of the ring tonight. So much so that I'm contemplating staying up and trying to watch it live (assuming I don't fall asleep of course)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 393 ✭✭Dickmcsavage

God I hope Kennedy doesn't win. His promos are meh and his in-ring skills are pretty bad in my mind (loves his rear choke holds). I always imagined him being better as a face, with potential to be one of WWE's top guys.

I would like to see Matt win it imo. Even though it would make sense for him and MVP to meet in the final, I would rather see Matt go over someone big so that he would gain more credibility from the win.

What are you saying? That Kennedy's promos and wrestling skills have deteriorated but he should win KOTR? Why?! How would it help him? Working with Shawn Michaels didn't seem to help him!

    Why was Kennedy suspended?
And what's the craic with Finlay? Is he in with a shout at all? "Ri Finlay!!!" :D

I'm not a massive fan, but I watch the highlights most weeks and Raw when I can, so pardon any ignorance!

I personally would have to see MVP win it. I think he's an awful performer, both in ring and on mic. He's had rubbish rivalries, too. The Matt Hardy thing is getting very old. I'd love to see a M.Hardy - Jericho feud, myself.

He was suspended with about ten others last year when they were found to have bought steroids on the internet

I'd say Finlay will be in it, but I don't see him winning it. I don't think he really needs it

I think the problem with his feud with HBK was hampered by his lack of confidence; you can see it in his work in the ring AND on the mic. I never thought I would find a Kennedy promo underwhelming but that has been the case since his return from suspension. The guy has lost all momentum so maybe if he won KOTR that confidence would return. Throughout his 2 and a half year tenure he knew he was valued:
    • Given a push right from the go with feud a with the Undertaker on SD.
    • Had the distinguished record of defeating 7 (I think 7) former world champions.
    • Won MITB
    • Was arguably billed as the main draft from SD to Raw last year.
This is the first time the guy has not been heavy in amongst things and I believe as a result (coupled with the suspension) that he believes the WWE has lost faith in him. KOTR could get him back on track, that's all I'm saying.

    :mad::eek:;)

What!? The guy admittedly started off as a joke but he has steadily improved since WM23. Besides for the HBK/ Batista segments, MVP has been a part of the best promos in the past year on SD; with Flair, Hardy and Jericho. He more than held his own too and it's been a long time since I have seen someone so at ease on the mic.

Plus, his match with Benoit at WM23 was the mark of the beginning of his improvement in the ring. He improves after each match so I find it hard to see where you are coming from mate. But each to his own.:)
