Ok, I know I know,

She has won the WSPOE ME, second in an EPT etc etc,

At the start of her run I really liked her and her style of play etc but I have been reading her blog alot lately and watching clips of her on the net and quite frankly I think now she's just a fuuckin twat,

She blatantly slates people (opponents) in her blog, like Andy Black for example. Another player she beat in a hand she had written in her blog really slating the player

"he turned over top 2 two, I turned over my straight, yeah nh gg see ya lol, as if his two pair was good"

Another hand on pokertube from the WSOP ME, a guy was betting with Kenny Tran to the river and turned over K 5 which was good against Tran who mucked and she started blurting out laughing and had to cover her face, not very mature/professional if you ask me.

I just have started to get the impression that she really thinks that she is the dogs bollocks, maybe it's because she's only like 19 and still a bit immature, I dunno,

But if anyone has read her blog recently or followed it like me maybe they have seen the change in her as I have.

I think the uber-confidence/brazen arrogance is absolutely endemic with the top mtt players, primarily American teens with no concept of humility or how to treat people. It's not limited to americans either clearly but most of the top online mtt'ers are americans. If you ever criticise them the generic response is "ill play you h/u for rollz blah blah blah im packing a 12"er how big is yours."

I think that a certain amount of arrogance is necessary to be the best in any sport or discipline, you need to think/know you're the best and can beat anyone a la Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher. Always an air of arrogance, but a healthy arrogance in their cases. I've more respect for anyone in life who can rise to the top of their discipline and still remain true to themselves. Ricky Hatton is a good example of this - wealthy man, 1 of the best boxers of his generation but hasnt let it change him, still mates with his school mates, still drinks in his local etc.

My only brief interaction with Annette was in Dortmund in the hotel, definitely got the "im the dogs and i know it" impression. To be fair to her she is super talented and probably doesnt give a **** what people think of her as long as she's winning $.

To go back to the OPs main point. What is Annette, 19? Think about it, most normal teenagers are arrogant, over confident and annoying. This is a teenager who has had incredible success and is loaded. Of course it might go to her head a little, it would be unusual if it didnt.

I remember reading a thread on 2plus2 about Annette's ability as a player which very quickly descended into a bunch of muppets talking about how ugly she was. I mean, how irrelevant is that? And she's not even ugly! It actually made me a bit sick, as she started replying to the thread, and I was there thinking about how wrong it was for a 19 yo girl to have to read all those negative comments about her looks, but all these clowns kept on responding calling her fat and all sorts of horrible things. I don't have the thread handy but she actually responded really well and didn't stoop to their levels at all. Anyway, the point is, I remember thinking how great boards.ie was because we wouldn't get that sort of bollocks on here, but it seems that we have the same bunch of mysoginistic internet gimps over here too unfortunately.

well i came across her at the irish open las tyear when she was only 18. she sat into the 1/2 table i was dealing cos a friend of hers was playing. she took the piss out of everybody to their faces and made fun of the size game they were playing and bragged about how much money she had compared to everyone at the table!

HJ makes a good point. If I had won as much as she has when i was 19, i'd be cocky too. I'm 26 and am barely a winning player and i still think i'm better than everyone else. If i actually manage to win anything of note, you'll never shut me up about it.

In relation to the attitude of many young winning players, Daniel Negreanu made a very good point. Not the exact quote, but it went something like this: The difference between me and the big winning online players is that I had friends when i was at school and had the necessary skills to actually deal with other people.

Lets face it, a lot of the huge online winners probably had the crap kicked out of them regularly at school, and have no idea how to act that they've gained a degree of celebrity and sucess.

Online poker is pretty much like any other online game; World of Warcraft, Quake, Counterstrike etc. - the vast majority of players are dorks, and when they have a bit of sucess their only frame of reference of how to act like a pro poker player are the likes of hellmuth etc.


On Annette, if she needs a good house husband who likes to be kept in a luxurious style, i'm up to the task.

As for commenting on her looks, i agree with Daithio etc it's not relevant at all... but in any walk of life people will treat you as you treat them. if she is gonna act like an arrogant, spoilt, better-than-you prima donna, then she is gonna have to tolerate a lot of back-biting and criticism. Belittling people or making fun of them will only ever result in negative reaction.
