Turkish Get Up

    Hi there,

I'm currently on Starting Stength but I wanted to add in some more core work to help with my sub wrestling. Looking around on the net I came across the Turkish Get Up (TGU) and it seemed to fit the bill.

I don't own a kettlebell and my gym (UCD Crunch) doesn't have any so I was using weight plates as they hung nicely against my forearm.

I'm just curious as to what exactly I should be feeling. I did some warm up sets and then 2 15kg TGUs on each arm. My shoulder felt it, in a good way, while holding the weight up but I wasn't getting much in the way of a core workout. I don't think I was anyway, maybe 15 kg wasn't heavy enough (most guides say to start with 16kg KB).

    Any ideas?
