I usually go for long walks to clear my head, what about you?

Look at the forum request in my sig and take a guess ;)

But if the situation demands me to be 100% alert, then a short walk followed by a hot (and then cold) shower wakes me the fcuk up

Perform a cold water extraction on the contents of about 15 solpadene capsules, the result will be a relaxing ~100mg dose of codeine. :)

What if it's a landmine or a very large pointy spike that's annoying you?

It's not the sleeping on it that's the problem - it's the waking up the next morning on 'it' that freaks me out.

Loud music, punching wall or something similar gets my frustration out. Then a smoke and a cup of tea usual top it all off nicely..

Yes in certain situations 'sleeping on it' can be the problem infact. Still you get my meaning and it works for somethings.

And yes landmines are a no no :pac:

This might sound like a bit of a hippy suggestion, but whenever I am really stressed out I use a little bit of 'Peace of Mind', from Origins.

You just tab a little bit behind your ears, on your temples, and if your really stressed, rub a little between your fingers, then cup your face and take 3 deep breaths. I promise you, you will feel so much calmer afterwards.

I go for a drive alone and let rip - cuss, shout, cry, whatever's required... and then I feel a lot better. I don't believe in keeping it in. I worked in a newspaper where things were obviously very high pressured, and it was the quiet guy who kept his stress bottled up that got the massive heart attack in his mid 40s.

I would never let rip in front of people though. But I find it very therapeutic. I actually did it recently. I was really, really stressed and upset about work so I drove off to a quiet place and just let it all out and I've felt so much better since.

Find yourself a drum kit and play the hell out of it. If you CANT play, try it anyway and laugh your ass off trying to do a "John Bonham".

A long walk with very very very loud rock music on my ipod, if that doesn't work, yes indeed, sleeping on it, as the next day is always a different and most of the time a better day and if all else fails...........a big bag of the green stuff will sort me out

Since last month. Was off them for four months this time. :/

Nearly there. The problem is I need to want to give them up and at the moment I'm enjoying smoking again. That said, most of my friends who did smoke are off them so it's getting more awkward socially so I think I'll be able to get back into a quitting mindset again. I just know myself well enough to know that there isn't a hope of me talking myself into quitting, I need to want to it first. It's a hard habit to shake.

That said, I haven't smoked indoors in years at this point (I refuse to smoke in a room that my son is/will be in and I wouldn't smoke indoors around simu when she was pregnant). So I've been able to curb the worst of the habit with respect to harming others.

Yeah I know how you feel. I was actually going to put a thread up on the Giving Up Smoking forum about it, I just can't see myself ever wanting to quit, more feeling that I just have to for health reasons. Damn cigarettes and their lovelyness.
