Purely a bit of craic but the not sure if I posted this before but interesting to see if your sport is a "sport".

    http://newsnet.byu.edu/story.cfm/67441

    Here is the criteria -

    1) Expression of physical prowess or skill, (Yes for me)
    2) Simultaneous competition, (Yes for me unless I do the long jump)
    3) An objective scoring system, which produces a clear-cut winner, (Yes)
    4) Human competition. (Yes)

The one good thing is that diving would be ruled out as well as gymnastics, I'd buy into that. Horse racing too, and golf (unless its matchplay).

Sport requires levels of physical conditioning and preparation, sometimes unrelated to the sport. Say like a sprinter doing weight training, or a shot putter doing short sprints. The other criteria posted above also apply to my definition, which rules out all the usual suspects: Darts, horse racing, snooker, golf, topless darts, dog racing, motor sport, bull assassination, etc.

My definition of 'Athlete' is likewise narrow. An Athlete is someone who competes in Athletics, or someone who would be capable of competing in some athletic discipline. So, Tiger Woods may indeed be an athlete, but this does not make all golfers athletes.

hmmm, not so sure about horse and motor racing, both, particularly motor racing require phenominal levels of fitness, top racing drivers are among the best conditioned of all professional sportsmen.

    Tingle

    1) Expression of physical prowess or skill, (Yes for me)
    2) Simultaneous competition, (Yes for me unless I do the long jump)
    3) An objective scoring system, which produces a clear-cut winner, (Yes)

So chess and scrabble etc are sports? Ability at them relates to the prowess of your brain a physical part of your body.
