Best way to get rid of Double Chin/Stomach?

I've been going to the Gym for about 2 months now. My weight hasn't dropped much but my BF has dropped from 21%-17%. I don't see that much difference when I look at myself. Does it just take longer to get rid of a chin or stomach?

unfortunately you can't choose where you lose bodyfat from, your body decides what is best for ya.

not sure if this is true but i've heard that it's first place bodyfat goes on, last it comes off - may be true as it makes sense that body would put the fat where it needs it first and then retain it as long as possible.

though god knows why we need double chins!

Have you taken photos, 2 months ago and now? Unless you had quite a lot of fat to lose in the first place, it can be pretty hard to see a difference as you see yourself every day, that's why taking photos is so important

Well you've sorta answered your own question, you've started working, seen some progress but not as significant in the chin/belly area - so does it take longer? looks like it.

As mentioned above, the belly is generally the last place men will lose the fat - it's kinda like the body's emergency supply that it wants to hold on to, so generally it will be the last place to go - but depends on a load of things, genetics for one! The double chin too, first place I lose weight is my face, so the chin went first, mate of mine was the opposite, he slimmed down a lot and still had a bit of a double chin - people are just different, but you're goin in the right direction so well done and keep the work up!

Ah the belly, modern mans most solid connection with his body…
    hair receding? Sign of intelligence
    grey? Maturity
    wrinkles appearing? Distinguished
But the belly? Your getting fat mate… you should get off your ass (coz that’s fat too) and get some exercise…
Yea, as one who was always thin (some times to thin) I really am taken aback by the belly battle, not long ago it was a wash board, well flat at least, but now you’d swear I evolved a new organ cos my body is holding onto it so strongly that seems to be of the opinion that it is necessary to my survival ???
Any way I decided to embrace it, I use it to carry stuff (if my hands are full I could balance things on it) I used it as a safety device (if I’d trip I’d simply stick her out and I bounce right back up), I used call it ‘my new best friend’ cos we went everywhere together J
However I decided to dump him cos if I didn’t, I’d have to buy new cloths, and I don’t want to buy new cloths.
So to those who are in the ‘battle of the bulge’ take courage that your not alone. It’s tough at the start because it probably means a change of habit, ie exercising instead of the TV, cutting down on certain food for new types of food etc so heres a tip, do some stomach exercises in addition to the walking, running or whatever. A handy amount of situps or bicycle kicks before or after and you’ll get those particular muscles working, from the inside.. so, while the pounds slowly (but surly) drop of you’ll feel the difference pretty quick and then the best part will kick in. The fact that yes you started exercising to trim the trim a bit but now your getting fit too, this means that your body is changing back to using food for energy (as it should) and not for padding in case you trip up……. So the next time your feeling discouraged flex those 6 packs which are working their way out and say goodbye to your old best friend…. He is a cling-on at best anyway.

Hows your diet? All the training in the world wont out do a bad diet

If you think your not getting good enough results despite working out hard in gym chances are

    1. Your diet sucks, too many carbs and sugars, look up paleo diet or caveman diet, and also forget i even used the word diet, I hate that word if you go into any eating pattern thinking of it as a temporary solution you will likley fail, Its not a diet its a lifestyle change

    2. Your training sucks, all exercise was not created equal... Going to the gym and just doing cardio for 2 months will have a hugely different impact on your body than going and doing compound exercises(Squat, bench,Overhead press deadlift) mixed with some timed workouts or metcons (such as : 5 push ups,5 inverted rows, 10 squats as many rounds as possile in 10 min) the latter being much more effective.

So basically keep at it OP consistency wins the race, clean up your diet and make sure your training effectively and youl get there. May not be the answer your looking for but there is no easy solution!

I'm sure the OP has figured it out in the 5 1/2 years since they asked.
