Pushing on

    Hi all

I am currently in the process of losing weight but I have hit a brickwall. A year ago I was 16 stone and since I was small in height it was quite a problem. But I bought an exercise bike and I have lost 3 and a half stone. I am 12 and a half right now. My problem is that I have been at 12 and a half for quite awhile now and I can't seem to push on any further with the exercise bike. I am just putting muscle on in the legs and not really losing any weight anymore.

Another problem is that I don't have any tight regime of dieting and exercising so I am not seeing any consistent weightloss. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for home exercise other than my bike that is effective.

First get your diet in order mate, read the stickys they're incredibly useful!

Secondly, I'd advise you to take pictures, you can look ten times better than you did before and stay at the same weight!

And congrats on the weightloss, you're doing excellent...

I kind of went into losing weight 'on the spur of the moment' in the sense that I didn't say to myself 'I'm on this diet' or that 'I'm taking pictures to keep track with my progress.' There is no strict regime and that's my problem. There are some days when I cut potatoes out but the meals at home are very 'potatoe orientated' and have but no choice but to eat them some days.

It was my 21st yesterday and I am flush with cash (:D) so does anyone have any suggestions for any exercise machines that give the body a good workout?

I don't know if you're into it or not, but perhaps considering buying weights/gym membership?

Weights are great to help you lose fat and to tone up(which is very encouraging).

Also it may be a good idea to post your diet, weekly workout routine and some basic stats (Weight/Height/Age/Sex) up here, makes it easier for people to offer advice ;)

    +1.

building muscle will help get rid of any fat.
also i wouldnt be too worried about what it says on the scale.
you say you arent losing weight, but your legs are getting more muscle, so the extra muslce means that the scale wont change much.

also you could try doing interval training on the bike. cycling easy pace for one minute, flat out for the next 30 secs - one minute. and repeat.
