...but is there anyone here that would be interested in getting a 'team boards.ie' or similar jersey for the wicklow200, and any other events?

Having a look on a couple websites, and they'd come in at about 40 quid each, but there's a minimum order of 15 or 20 or so -would it be a really bad idea?

(I know, I'm bored, and when bored, strange thoughts enter my head!)

ill be up for it, but take note, alot of people here are members of cycling clubs already, and doing national events like the wick200, they would do it in their own club jersey, no offence to your idea, but the club wouldn't like it if you wear another jersey when you are affliated to that club, training with them, and racing their jersey for the rest of the year......

maybe a idea to setup a cycle for charity and have only board members doin it......

this is just my opinion though.

Hey count me in, I think I may join ye for a cycle someday, gotta get in gear for my WW200 training.

Once I get my lycra im sorted!

Count me in for two if one plan to go ahead with it. Its a good idea - nice to recognise a boardsie at events like the Wicklow.

i'd be up for it, but as smithslist i have a team jersey so i'd have to wear it at events like the wicklow 200 etc

Also is anyone interested it having a bigger meet, say somewhere like Slieve Blooms, or Wicklow

I'm on for that. Wicklow would suit me best. I don't drive, so I'd be cycling out.

i want one too. can we get them designed proper good? i'd even give it shot, unless there are some qualified graphic designers amongst us. just a short sleeve jersey? dja think boards.ie would subsidize?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭c0rk3r

Not a bad idea. Just rip the design and colours from the boards.ie football team jersey or make a thread fashion/design. Im sure someone would come up with a few designs.

I'd buy one just becuase i enjoy boards and cycling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

I looked at doing this before, although not for boards.
These guys can mock up some nice designs for no cost.

    http://www.owayo.com/en/screen_frameset_bike.htm

There is a minimum order of 10, under which you must pay a supplement.

well keep em coming. if they are genuinely rubbish ideas we'll tell you so. :)

i'd buy one, maybe two. what sites were you looking at? the owayo.com one posted by raam looks pretty spiffy.

my favourite colour is orange btw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,085 ✭✭✭ba

not too crazy bout that owayo.com stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,860 ✭✭✭TinyExplosions

I was looking at http://www.thecyclejersey.com/tcj-custom-jerseys.htm, but just because I found it on google.

I'm glad the response was positive, and yeah, I did think about club riders and W200 etc, and I've got to admit I was really posting for selfish reasons, so I'd have some pretty kit for the day, but I think they'd be good for identifying folk out on runs etc, and just for the craic!

I was planning on having a mate of mine design them (he's a pro and does great design), but would be happy to throw it out there to whoever, and we could vote on them on here?

How would I go about seeing about getting a bit o funding from boards, who's in charge o that stuff, cos it'd be decent advertising (i'd like a big "Boards.ie -now ye're biking" or something on the back)

Just to add to the wishlist, I like black jerseys, but was thinking blue would fit better for a "boards" jersey, unless we just do a kick ass one for ourselves! :)

It would be pretty good alright, I'd wear it on me commute and shout abuse at other wearers.

It like one if it was a rip off of the old La Vie Claire jerseys.

White is the trendy bike & gear colour at the mo. personally I'd go black with large Boards.ie in white lettering. Plain, simple and effective and not too gawdy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 378 ✭✭Bicyclegadabout

I’d just go with the face on the “O” of the boards.ie logo. In the centre, at the back, just below the neck. Along with boards.ie across one shoulder.
    Black jersey, blue print.
    Certainly not white anyway imo.

Small interesting stuff that makes people look at it to figure out what it is, I think that’s what makes this sort of thing look cool. No one ever agrees with me though.

Also, surely someone has done t-shirts or something for Boards before. What did they look like?

That said, I haven’t decided if I’m getting one, and I’m almost certainly not doing the Wicklow 100, so feel free to ignore me completely. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

yeah but black would get very warm in the summer sun ...... oh wait never mind.
yellow has always been the most sought after colour in cyling though :)

Oh and my 'boards' is green, not blue - you can pick any colour from a load of different themes.....

I like your thinking sir! The big 'O' on the back of the jersey, with boards.ie on the arm would be good and effective all right.

As for not doing the 100, it doesn't matter -basically I want a nice jersey, and you need at a very minimum 10 to get it custom designed, hence why I thought of boards... get one, wear it for commuting, training, competing, hell wear it down to the pub, just get one :)

Personally, I think this kit is damn nice, but studiorat's idea of emulating La Vie Claire means we could get just about everyone's colour on it :)

So, it looks like there's enough interest anyway -the problem is we may ned to get moving, as W200 is rapidly approaching, and 6 weeks seems to be a minimum for orders!

I also found http://www.fcarvalho-ciclismo.com/clo/index.php who appear to do good quality jerseys, and the rest of the kit if it was ever needed, and they would work out at about 35 quid each, plus the 235 design fee split among how ever many we order, so if we get 10, it'd be 35 + 23.50 =58.50. Is that pushing it too high? (also, it's 3 colours plus white maximum)

My vote is to go for them, using Bicyclegadabout's design idea, but maybe yellow on black, or do ye want to go even more fancy?

    Wheeee! It's green!
Maybe the front is too plain, but it's a start..
Was thinking of adding 'Road Team' underneath the pockets or the logo on the back.
I suppose it costs a bucket more cash to personalize them, but maybe our lusernames on the sides or sleeves

Not so sure about the La Vie Claire jersey! It's not the worst, but far from best. Another dodgy one:
    Tonton Tapis
    Pillon,%20Laurent%2091.jpg

Watching the Paris-Nice on TV and noticed Skil are back on the go, their jersey being almost identical to their ancient one from donkeys ago. Talk about a throw-back:

Not bad, spose as cycling jerseys their gonna be in bright colours. I reckon the “O” face is too big on those though. Just wait till I get home to me Photoshop.

That's the key right there. Think of the worst design in the world, something that you would only wear if you are paid to wear it. Then go and design that jersey.

The second design form Niconetom looks slick...the one with white and bianchi turquoise colour...

Id defo be interested, the design above looks class...although I reckon if you replaced the bianchi turquoise with a nice green (illuminous)..same as the slimey green :D it would look slick, and definitley stand out from the crowd...
