For the love of all things sweet and shiny: if you're old enough to post here, you've gone through DST for several years - get used to it. If you cannot, then www.google.ie will hold your hand and teach you so much. mmmm, shiny sweet things.

Just put it forward before you go to sleep. Doesn't matter what the exact time is when it's the middle of the night and you're pissed anyway. Then you'll wake up tomorrow and you'll get the shock of your life when you see it's 12.30 instead of 11.30 and you're supposed to be out at your ma's for Sunday dinner - hilarity all round...

The Lord God Gates upon his Redmond, Washington, mountain will automatically reset your Ultimate clock so that you will not miss admiring the Vista in the morning... of course, after a few SP-1 patches.

There is no 1am on Saturday night. Saturday night runs from 6:30 or 7pm to midnight, at which point it becomes Sunday morning. Stop confusing people. :pac:

    I'm talking in laymans terms.

When somebody asks you how did you get home last night? On a sunday morning, you don't say, 'technically i didn't get home last night, i got home this morning'.

If you did say that, you could expect a slap depending who you're talking to :p

Same as normal - they're not gonna want to lose an hour's business. As I said, what does it matter in the middle of the night? It's Sunday morning (as in daylight hours) onwards when it actually matters.

I don't think anyone will be slapping me anytime soon. I'm a bit of a sloucher, so people are taken aback when I straighten up fully. Especially when they've offered to slap me. :D

On December 31st, people know exactly when one day ends and the other begins. So that means it is tomorrow when the clocks go forward. Speaking of dates in December, it is tomorrow, not December 21st, that is the shortest day in the year, all 23 hours of it. Equally, the last Sunday in October, with its 25 hours, beats the 24 hours of June 21st to take the title of longest day in the year.

Rubbish! The clock-switching happens in the middle of the night and thus has no impact on the number of hours of light in the day.

Except, of course, that what "they" actually mean by "longest" day of the year is the day with the most hours of sunshine (and least hours for the "shortest").

    OMG teh pedantry

And yes, this site is showing that I posted this at "00:31" ... where "02:31" would be more accurate... darnit! :)

[edit]: Ah, just noticed this. Double darnit :D

    Hahahaha

Ok so boards now agrees with my mac. I'm gonna assume it's actually 2.40am now so and not 12.40!! If I'm right then all is well. And if I'm wrong I just won an extra 2 hours on my day tomorow.

I looked away from my laptop for a few seconds and when I looked back an hour had passed. Can we not just put the clock back again instead of forward? Give me an extra hour in bed! (Assuming I'm getting out of bed tomorrow, which I'm not.)

Screw that put it back about 4 or 5 hours. That would be much better.

Screw THAT, put it back a whole day. I'm sure we'd all love an extra Saturday.

We shall call it Good Saturday and we shall close all the pubs and off-licences and refrain from eating meat.

I'm sure the After Hours cohort will thoroughly endorse this idea.

They'll close at the original 2:30 rather than the new 2:30. Get me?
