Quick Turn on Sky News while i edit this post
PALS of “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie last night told of their shock.

Beatie, 34, who yesterday released a pic of his five-months-pregnant belly, has gone into hiding. It is rumoured he and wife Nancy have sold their story to TV chat host Oprah Winfrey.

A British-born neighbour who is looking after their home in Bend, Oregon, while they are away said: “They’ve struck a big deal with someone.

“When they come back all will be revealed. This is 1,000 per cent true.”

Relative Rena Keeley added: “I believe it’s true. We’ve been told not to say anything.”

The transsexual kept his female organs after a sex change.

Some doctors say Thomas’s ten years of taking testosterone will increase the tot’s cancer risk — but others say there is too little research to back that up.

This raises some question about Arnie in that movie that he did.

So he was born a woman, had a sex change but kept his female sex organs and got pregnant. Not really that big a shocker.

Its still really weird. and when I made the post i didnt have the tranny data I just saw the picture and Sky reporting on it.

Yeah... it's not that big a deal... unless they're not planning on getting a cesarean.

I wouldn't fancy squeezing a child through the old urethra... artificially added or not.

Not really. Nothing weird about a women getting pregnant. Then again I'm basing this on the fact I know nothing about her situation whether she took any hormones, how much of an effect taking hormoes would have on her chances of getting pregnant etc.

Im sorry but he/she gave up their right to be a mother and carry a baby when he/she decided to change their sex, thats just the responsibilty that comes with it, the fact they would put their baby girl at risk is JUST SICK and they are both very selfish - what do they think those hormones will do to a baby? the child could be handicapped for all they know and i bet you they wont feel the need to broadcast their situation then(and ive a feeling they will feel the need to sue the drug companys for it) I for one dont smoke and i have no intention of putting a drink to my mouth when im pregnant- and it angers me to see this ****- those hormones are still in his/her body and will harm the child!!!!

omg im so mad right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

    Quote from the article...

Doctors have expressed concern at the possible effect of testosterone on the unborn child.

If doctors worry thats good enough for me

Its hard to make a living sometimes. Americans are robbed blind, especially in medicare. And this is a transgender, pregnant man. A very special case indeed. I'll say theyre gonna need the cash for good treatment.

Kinda makes a bit of a mockery out of the whole transgender thing in a number of ways though doesn't it? I mean you pays your money and you takes your choice, right?
So why is a neo-dude havin a baby?

I've got a much better WHAT THE FUCK story -
Man sentenced over wombat rape claim

A New Zealand man has been sentenced to community service after telling police he had been raped by a wombat and the experience had caused him to start speaking "Australian".

Arthur Cradock, a 48-year-old orchard worker from Motueka on South Island, rang police on February 11 to say he was being raped by the slow-moving Australian marsupial at his home, The Nelson Mail reported.

He rang back soon afterwards to say he was withdrawing his complaint against the wombat, a court was told.

"Apart from speaking Australian now, I'm pretty all right you know," he told police in the second call.

Cradock pleaded guilty to using a phone for a fictitious purpose and was sentenced to 75 hours community work.

Prosecutors said alcohol played a large part in Cradock's life, although his defence lawyer said he was not drunk on the afternoon of the phone calls.

Wow, how did his lawyer not realise that saying he was drunk or off his head on acid at the time was the right way to spin this?

if he kept his organs he's not transsexual, he's women dressing as a man

A man has talked himself into nearly two years in jail after threatening to kill a Shelby County criminal court judge. Joshua Beadle has been held in contempt and sentenced to 10 days per word after a judge ordered him to stop the threatening comments.

Judge Lee Coffee stopped counting at 70 words and sentenced Beadle to 700 days in jail.

Beadle was shackled and outfitted in a special hooded spit mask during the hearing Monday after spitting at the judge at a hearing in January. Beadle missed the judge and instead hit a clerk's computer.

Through his nylon-and-mesh spit mask, he apologized to the clerk on Monday and assured her that his intended target was the judge.

Beadle was appearing in court on burglary and rape charges.

I personally think, the trans-gender issue is a very important and complex issue, however some people still make a mockery of such things.

If your born a Woman and feel like you want to be a man, then you get a sex change op. You do not however go half way. In my opinion, "Thomas" is not a man, on the basis that he does not have a penis. My understanding is she kept her vagina, but lost her breasts, and has a beard. If that is the case, then she is a woman with a beard, and is flat.

Her sex was not changed, if she still has a vagina. So a woman is giving birth to a baby? Big deal. Oprah really does have more money than sense.

So even if the baby is born with no side effects can you even just imagine the s**t that child will get once it starts going to school.

I think it's just plain wrong and that child will never have the chance to live a normal life, healthy or not.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Why did they, given that she wanted to be the man in the relationship, decide that the half-gendered one should carry the child?

The whole thing absolutely reeks of a planned attempt to get publicity and cash in on it tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,429 ✭✭✭✭star-pants

Like some have said, it's a female body having a baby. Not really a big deal.
The only 'issue' *I* would have is the side effect of the hormones etc on the baby.
Otherwise, at the end of the day - it's a couple having a baby the only way they can. Like mothers/sisters etc carrying babies for their son/daughter/sister/brother.. Those babies aren't born to their 'official' parents but its how they can be had.

Aside from it all, I think the fact such a big hullaballo being made about it will make it worse on the family/child. And I do think it odd that this Thomas person didn't go the whole way with the sex change (just my idea of if you want to be another sex, why go half way? surely you can't be perfectly happy still having womanly things like your period?)

I didn't read the link, but I read about this in another paper this morning and don't know if any facts are missing from the s*n story. 'He' has a female partner who has had a hysterectomy and can't have children, so 'he' stopped taking the hormones, started having periods again and got pregnant then.

Seems straightforward to me, apart from the bearded pregnant man/woman bit.

    Sick...

something like this can change your mind about transsexualism. 'He' will never be a proper man. Never.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭Signature

I still think this is really, REALLY weird...

Even without getting into the transsexual issue, at the end of the day a 'man' has given birth.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭Signature

If a transsexual wants to be recognised they're getting nowhere by doing something like this.

I mean when I saw Nadia from big brother years ago she looked and acted like a woman. Something like this pregnancy just emphasises the fact this transsexual will never be 100% man.

If 'he' sees himself as a man than he shouldn't get pregnant. Only women do that. You don't get that chance if your a normal man.

cant agree with that one. the person who has given birth has a vagina and uterus, and used to have breasts until she chose to have them removed. she does not have any male sexual organs. ergo, she is a woman.
not having boobs and having facial hair does not make one a man.

If by "proper man" you mean the same as someone who was born a man, then no, (s)he won't. I think (s)he has accepted that.
    Signature wrote: »

Why is it weird to use your own organs to their potential? Sure, it's not the usual but does that mean it shouldn't be done then?
Even without getting into the transsexual issue, at the end of the day a 'man' has given birth.
Hold on... you're contradicting yourself. A couple of posts up and elsewhere you said this person "will never be a proper man". Going by that logic, a man, unlike what you said, hasn't given birth.
    Signature wrote: »

I see what you mean there - this person wants to be recognised as a man, yet still has a baby. I suppose it's an example of one having one's cake and eating it.
However it doesn't make it "sick". I think those who view it as "sick" are just freaked out because it's different to the norm. Open your minds people.
I mean when I saw Nadia from big brother years ago she looked and acted like a woman.
Not really a good example to give. She used to be a man so it actually worked for her if she looked and acted like a woman to you.
