If the release date is tomorrow it's doubtful that anywhere is gonna have it on sale today...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 848 ✭✭✭armour87

I find that Sainsburys and Tesco in Derry almost always sell copies of games on the night before release to anyone. I even think a friend of mine got his San Andreas the night before up there, and they were like proverbial hot cakes

i got it and im enjoying it definately a step in a completely different direction you have much more freedom i think its possibly the game football game fans have really been waiting for

edit... 3 or 4 games in and i'm not sure i can ever go back to the old way, for any football fan whos played a football game and though why aren't there players making runs, or why is there no movement in the box from a corner, problems are solved.

and my wfc friend code thing is 0473 7729 5388

Online, Play.com looks the cheapest, even with their hideous exchange rate.
    Eur 41.99.

Gameplay.co.uk, TheHut and BlahDVD are all GBP30, but I think there's a delivery charge.
    Sendit.com is a whopping Eur 54.50
    CD-WOW don't have it.

can anyone explain why the english teams cant have their proper names? and why is it that newcadtle and spurs are fine but we have "merseyside reds" and "man red" (i know you can change them but you shouldnt have to)

brilliant game all the same tho

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

Some teams charge alot for a liecense. I dont know why pro evo havent gotten them yet. its weird!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,943 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    worth buying lads??

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

    Definally.

If your like me and sick of playing the same aul game each year with maybe fancier graphics and just new players etc. this game will seem like the holy grail once you get the hang of it.

Its a much more of a realistic and strategic game, where your attacking revolves around the holes in the oppostitons defence, and the defensive play revolves around the pressure and right movements to block them out.

Im only getting the hang of it after an hour or so play and theirs still so much to learn!

Also, the online play seems flawless. Flows very nicely, no lag at all!

EA Sports currently have exclusive rights on the Premiership.

This means that Konami can only use 2 teams officially. Its gay, and EA have the rights untill 2012 and if Konami want to use all 20 teams then they have to pay an absolute fortune which apparently they are not prepared to do.

Why they chose Newcastle and Spurs is beyond me. It should be the top 2 teams ie this year United and Chelsea or at least the Champions and 1 of the other big 4.

i can only assume newcastle and spurs were among the cheapest of the bigger clubs...

great game...quite difficult to get used to,but passing is amazing...finding defence a bit difficult at the mo though...

this definitely aint one for the so-called casual gamers..

i played this game for about 2 hours yesterday, then went to my mates house and played fifa 08 on the ps3, and imo there is no comparison! pro evo wii is just better, more realistic, when you play one then the other you realise that in fifa they dont make the runs they should, which you make them do in pro evo!

if anyone is on the fence about wether to buy this game or not....do!! it is amazing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,943 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

im delighted i bought this game

    great controls

hopefully other soccer games will have the same controls as pro evo from now on

anyone finding it to easy ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,326 ✭✭✭Zapp Brannigan

How is the dribbling in it? Can you still do shoulder feints, double foot feints and all the other control stick moves from previous games?

This game is epic. YOU BUY NOW!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,344 ✭✭✭death1234567

Well I have been playing this game all weekend and its a revolution. It is the first next gen PES. I defenatelyt won't bother getting PES on any other system after this. The graphics aren't as good but the game play is majestic. Swinging 60 yard gerrard style passes across the pitch is qulaity and the intricate passing and 1-2's around the box is aresnal-esque. If you own a Wii and don't have this, you are insane.

The champions road is a much better version of the old master league and while the game does have some issues (Freekicks are too simple, can't transfer players from one club team to another, etc.) Konami have obviously concentrated on getting the gameplay spot on. When I first put it in I thought it would take days if not weeks to learn the controls given that I was so used to the playstation PES. But 5 games in after and epic 3-3 draw between Ireland and England (Robbie keane hattrick) I had adjusted.

As PEs 2008 is the first PES with the point and click interface it will probably be PES2009 or PES 2010 before we see everything refined and a 10/10 game but PES 2008 on Wii would be my game of the year (except for GTA of course). Defo 9/10.

picked it up in lunch there

lads, when you shoot, can you aim where it goes in the goal or does it just shoot at goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 500 ✭✭✭zuchum

It just goes towards the goal automatically...which is one minor issue I have with an otherwise great game...

Also, can anyone explain defending to me? i seem to only be able to man mark and my players shy away from tackling..is there any other option?

Also I completely agree with death1234567..this is 9 out of ten..but once they fix the few flaws,it will be the best football game around..although i can sense a lot of people saying "its too hard etc.." oh well..

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

^Ya thats a problem for me too.

But you gotta be rough :p. I have my finger in Z and ready to thro the numchuk for the aul slide hoping it'll get the ball. most cases it does!

Same here. Don't be scared of a crunching sliding tackle there won't be any FA review panel to give you a 6 game ban for a two footer. Also I find if you bring two players to man mark the opponent with ball (click on him and hit A twice) then you usually will get the ball back. Remember to keep you defnders goals side aswell, so then you can hit Z and go for an interception.

To me that is a HUGE flaw,

Enough to make me avoid the game to be honest.

Play the game and you'll see it not that big a deal. PES on wii is wwwaaayyy better then PES on any other system.

How will me playing it change the fact that you cant aim/control your shots?

I was gonna buy it but i cant, I like being in control of shooting, its pretty much a basic essential in a football game to be honest.

You cant do that with other games either. Its exactly the same.

If your facing the goal and take a shot its up to AI whether its in or not. alike all soccer games.

    eh what?

i have this on the wii and i love it, but in Fifa 08 and pro evo on 360, i can aim where i want to put the ball

thats strange alright but sometimes it is the players you are shooting with, michael carrack is known to boggey a shot wide as he does in real life!
