I'm in Westpark, Tallaght. It's a decent enough gym although if you were into your lifiting the weights section is way too small for my liking at peak times(i only use off peak 6.00-4.30) I imagine it would get pretty crowded quickly, 1 adjustable bench for incline, decline and flat barbell benching, one fixed bench(only flat benching), one power rack and one smith machine. Dumbbells go up to 50kg though they rarely get used:D.

Cardio wise it's fine plenty of bikes, rowers, steppers etc. There's also a seperate womens weights room on the top floor though from what I've seen it's merely machine weights. There's also a machine weights section on the first floor for everyones use. Think there's 3 fitness studios and a 25m swimming pool that has TV projected onto one of the massive walls, (I think it's pointless if your swimming tbh though)

Staff for the most part are all friendly enough and seem to have a good rapport with members which is nice to see and I've seen some instructors pull people up on their technique which is very rare.

Cleanliness is pretty good, they're always cleaning when I'm there but bare in mind I only go between 7-11ish no idea what the showers are like when it's busy.

They also offer a full body analysis which gives you your sugar levels, cholestorol, blood pressure, bodyfat, flexibility amongst other things which is a nice touch. (Costs €50 although worth it I feel))

Overall for your average gym user I'd give it a 8.5/10.

For someone who loves to lift I'd probably give it a 6/10 because I couldn't imagine a productive session during busy times coupled with the lack of space for throwing barbells around and lack of barbells to throw around. My last gym had 8-9 that I could think of. On that note I'd recommend you checking out Liffey Valley Fitness if your in Parkwest, 5 mins away and a dream for most lifters. Failing that if you go through Clondalkin Village check out Atlas Gym if it's powerlifting/bodybuilding your into. I'll be using either one of them once I finish college.

cheers for that, very comprehensive! i might check that gym out so, im not into power lifting, more keeping trimmed, firm and alittle something to compliment abit of kick boxing. i wont be touching 50kg dumb bells anytime soon :D

In that case Westpark would be ideal if it's by your way, forgot to mention it has a boxing ring, well it has the ropes etc but just for show really, has four or five bags in it that can't be moved, good sturdy hinges. Great gym for the average user.

Liffey Valley has only one bag but it's usually knocked off the hinges as some idiots decide to go all out on the power side of things.

Im in Westpark and its a good gym, but as Leon11 said, it can [and usually does] get jammers at peak times [usually after 3.30pm]

If Cardio's your thing you're sorted! theres about 20 t/mills and bikes, and about 10/15 Xtrainers and Rowers, and some steppers, and lazy bikes

theres loads of classes on too, every day. and has a decent swimmin pool

    great gym altogether
