would you now download it? itll be on psn

will it not be massively sized?

there's still something magical about getting the bus into town buying the game coming back on the bus while reading the manual and then getting home, you just don't get that with downloading.

in fact downloading just feels like a system update and you're like ugh why is this taking forever to do.

i would not buy a full game from the psn store after getting warhawk from it , as the only profile on the ps3 allowed to play it is mine .

not a good thing when there are other people with there profiles on the ps3 , so i'm going to buy gt5 prologue from game or another store .

You're better off not ordering from play anyway... looks like they couldn't get the stock needed to satisfy all preorders. it's gone to "temporarily out of stock" on the site and my preorder hasn't shipped yet:(

I agree with cremo, would like to have the disc anyway because i'll prob give the loan of it to friends etc. Called into xtravision last night and they had nothing on their system for it yet, gamestop is probably another option but they're prob looking for €50 or somethin silly!

i tried smyths in airside yesterday evening, and they have it in stock but weren't selling yet. i'm sure it'll be on sale today in most places

How much are we expected to pay for this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 129 ✭✭murfo

£25, i would imagine that should be €35'ish, but being ireland, i'd guess at least €40-45

edit: smyths have it at €39.99

    Really dumb question time....

I loved the GT series on the PS/PS2, but I'm not normally in early on the games, but having played NFS Prostreet and Burnout Paradise I'm craving some GT action. Anyway....the question is....what's the story with this being the 'prologue' I'm assuming that this means a full game called GT5 is coming some time in the future? What would I get in this prologue and would I then have to buy the real thing for €70 in a few months?

Yes, Prologue is a pretty big taster for the full game, most importantly with 16 player online, split-screen and a whole host of cars and tracks.

GT5 more than likely wont be out until early next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 129 ✭✭murfo

i've read in the last couple of days that the full game may be as much as a year away

and 40 notes is great value these days, especially if you think about those full price impulse purchases you made and played once. having downloaded the demo from the jap store, i'm more than happy to pay €40 for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭Stealdo

Suppose I should go for it so...strange way to do things, but I suppose it whets the appetite. So would the actual game then in a year or so but much bigger? have updated cars & tracks and stuff or different gameplay modes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

yup the full game will have the topgear test track too, almost a good enough reason to buy it as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

I also forgot... you get Top Gear streamed to your PS3 also with Prologue...

    :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

that's in prologue too? thought it was only for the full game.

if so i can't wait to get this, want to watch some old topgear that's never shown on tv anymore.

I'm 90% certain... I thought I saw it somewhere, will look for a link when I get home.

    EDIT:

Got a email today, mine is dispatched from hut.com £17, dont mind waiting a few days rather then pay the rip off bricks n mortor game shops €40 upwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,024 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

It's going to be £25 on the uk psn, so I'm guessing €30 here

nope €40 here, rip-off or what

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Munurty

Just rang Gamestop Carlow and they said it will cost €30.

I didn't really believe them so I rang Gamestop Kilkenny and they said €40.

Play.com delivery of the game is going to be late so they are offering £3 of the price of GTA4 instead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 349 ✭✭Burago

€40 in Gamestop Newbridge. Still not up on the PSN which is annoying.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

PSN is a joke for updates. Always has been so it is not surprising.

Which costs £40 to begin with, so it's not really much in the way of compensation... Think I'd rather order from VG+ and get GTAIV on release day, thanks...

yeah, €40 from smyths, but at least the nice chappie in there gave it to me yesterday evening

40 notes is pretty good value for what you're getting. It may not be a full Gran Turismo, but it's a fuller game than Motorstorm was, for example!

Also, I think I read somewhere that 40 episodes of Top Gear would be made available, via Prologue.

I'll probably get mine on disc today, doesn't seem to be on PSN yet

I'm surprised it still not on PSN...The press release said that it would be available on PSN on the 27th and in shops on the 28th...
I have the Japanese version (which got an update yesterday, including all the new features like splitscreen, tuning, and way more online event) but now that there are loads of settings, I need english...
What is the cheapest shop selling the game so far? Is it still in stock?

    Thanks,
    Yann

All of the shops are selling it at €40. The cheapest way to get it is online from either play.com or videogamesplus.ca where it can be got for under €30.

I was all ready to download it last night or this morning and it still isn't there. Sony really need to get their **** together with the PSN.

Ordered it for €23 from Sendit.com. Don't know when I'll get it mind but the price is great.

Thats what happens when you have a free online service, I'd rather pay for it at this stage as PSN has gone a bit **** lately from my experience.

Anybody has a UK PSN account (Pounds) to check if GT5P is there? Maybe they will do the EURO countries a little later (It's not on the french PSN either).

It really is a joke. The potential for a great service is there but their approach to it is disappointing. Are the US and Jap PSN's as slowly updated and lacking in content as our own?

That logic doesn't follow. You don't have to subscribe to amazon.com in order to be able to buy from it, yet it's one of, if not the best online stores in the world.

This is the first time Sony has had problems with an update, as far as I know. I remember over Xmas for a long time having major problems with XBL in general (logging in, playing games and getting anything off the network), and that's a paid-for service.

So I don't think it has anything to do with it being free or not free.

They're not, at least the US store is not. The US store is much better, it's easy to create an account for it though.

Of course, they won't be getting GT5 until April anyway.

The US store was updated yesterday on time as usual. It would seem it is only us in Europe that are constantly looked over

Well the waiting for it to appear on PSN sucked and I couldn't justify giving the stores over 33% more than websites so I bought it from play.com for €25.49. I can wait some more.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 300 ✭✭superweld

so does anyone who bought the game have any opinions on it yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 124 ✭✭bibi-phoque

Well, I have been playing it since mid-december (Jap version) and got the spec II update yesterday.
This is THE racing game. I have a G25 wheel and it is so much fun (clutch enabled).
And now, after the update yesterday, I feel like I have a brand new game again!! Loads more car, loads more settings (increase HP, reduce weight) and more online event. We used to have only 12 before, now there are 35. Also, some restricts car based on points. For instance, a 650 points online event will let a lot of car through, but an average car will be able to increase power, reduce weight and get Race tires to reach 650 points, and a powerful car will have to increase the weight, put crappy tires in order to go in and reduce the points to 650. The result is that you get an interesting race, where the powerful cars struggle to stay on the road and the average cars needs to make up the time on corners.

Best racing game I have ever played. I'm getting the english version on PSN as soon as it is available, because now I don't understand half of the settings so it's a big disadvantage.

    Yann
