In Mexico, emo = Death

    Intersections:

A bizarre wave of mob emo-bashings is sweeping across Mexico. The movement is being generated on message boards and social networking sites by non-emo youth who highly dislike like the emo look and attitude.

    L.A. Weekly:

In Mexico, emo culture is a butt of many jokes. It is either despised intensely or generally ignored. But it’s only the despising sentiment that lately has been getting wide airply. In the above clip, a Televisa on-air personality named Kristoff expresses a serious dose of anti-emo rhetoric and switches to English to say, on network television, “****ing bull****” to the emo movement.

Nah, they've probably hired in even cheaper Puerto Rican illegals to do it for them.

Isn't that why people are emo to begin with? I thought they like the pain...

I've never understood the whole emo-bashing thing.

They're a quiet enough bunch and keep to themselves... would you rather they were all skangers instead? Which is clearly what the bunch of people you are all cheering on are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

I was hoping that the emo's, cops and skangers would all be united in their hatred of those hari krishna's that showed up and join forces to deliver a monumental beatdown to them freaks

Emo is a place in Laois. It was there before all this malarky though, and afterwards too I dare say.

Therefore It's the Emo Capital of the world.

    Destroy Laois.

    And you destroy Emo................

Finally I have some justification for my 'Eliminate Ireland's Dog Loais'' campaign.
For too long that county has held this fine nation back !
Now we can eliminate two birds with one stone.

I'm in favour of Emotional Free Loaisless Ireland !

Quite frankly, this kind of behaviour is utterly thuggish and despicable, and shame on anyone who applauds these kind of idiotic troglodytes. It's a bunch of ****ing neanderthals who are beating up people for the sole reason of listening to a certain kind of music...

Would you lot so quickly cheer on a gang of skangers who jumped someone for wearing an AC/DC tshirt? I'd imagine not. So cop on to yourselves.

    Agreed.

Also agree with Karl Hungus, it's sick to see people actually cheering on scum for beating up a harmless group of people purely for the music they listen to or the way they dress.

Poor Mexico, so close to the United States and so far from Heaven. It get's all the worst Western influences. All those angry kids need some positive TLC, and I think the Hare Krishna's can help out. Jesus when they showed up....talk about taking the piss.

I don't believe the reason behind emo hate is to do with their taste in music and dress code as much as it to do with the whole "I'm depressed, nobody understands me, ATTENTION PLX" act they put on. Sure you could say this pseudo-depression shows little regard for people who actually do suffer from depression. :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,786 ✭✭✭✭Hagar

Those Emos fight like girls. Why don't the bullies take on some "old school" skinheads* and see how they get on. It would be a much shorter video.

    * Not the Hare Krshna lads btw, they're Krshna Ninja Sect, not to be messed with.

Funkz, Dinter, et al: I'll take it in the intended spirit and let it slide. No more racist 'jokes'.

Now, get back to the important matter at hand: An emo, and a man from Laois are in a room together. Who do you attack first?

Question; how many emo's do you know who are like that? In fact how many emo's does any emo-basher know?

Emo's are the goths/punks/teddy-boys etc. of our generation (except with a lot less fashion style and decent taste in music imo.) Do you ever see them hanging around central bank or outside the Navan shopping centre? They're just normal teenager wasters who get pissed and giggle and make a nuisance of themselves like any other teenage stereotype.

Yeah, the whole 'I'm so depressed, aye me!' thing is annoying, but the majority of people I know who are in anyway like that are not 'emos' per se and I'd bet it's the same for 99.9% of other people.

I wouldn't even know what an emo was if it wasn't for people annoyingly whining about them on After Hours.

I think the music is better with goth... well the old school stuff anyway... not so sure about what the kids listen to these days.

in all reality , what social stereotype doesnt hae emos , from 'rockers' to 'scumbags' to 'd4's' , they all hate emo's, a lifestyle and taste based on the conformity to one exact stereotype is not cool,

. It's a bunch of ****ing neanderthals who are beating up people for the sole reason of listening to a certain kind of music...

    .

If you read the OP you'll find no reference to the emo listening to music. They are being bullied for their image. Not that I condone that, just that your horse is a tad wobbly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,555 ✭✭✭✭AckwelFoley

    No. They're not the same.

I think you are taking this far to seriously. A bunch of madmen in Mexico decide to beat up some emo kids. Terrible i agree.

But emo is only a phase kids go through, not a race or culture. At least they can grow out of their emo phase.

Far from me condoneing the attacks, not at all.. they're terrible, but i think its no different than any other random attack that i ppl dont seem to get worked up about.
