WAR-Pre order = beta slip at gamestop

Ive been reading when you pre order war
at gamestop you get a slip with a beta code
and link to the client !

Anyone know if there doing this here yet
im not sure if this is only in america and
i still havent found out if it only applies
to special addition pre orders.

Anyone know we can get a beta slip here yet
if you pre order at gamestop ?

I have seen images of the german slips onlne so must be around europe to some degree. But this was a massive slip up, the rumours go that the pre-order campaign will be announced on wednesday at an event in Paris, maybe pre-orders available after. Havent gotten a chance to check my local GS but its small and doubt it will have it.

Rang two Gamestop shops and they dont have it on their system yet or have heard of it.

I'm not saying it isn't true or anything, just that it might be a bit soon for the regular Gamestop shops to know anything about it.

The beta access is for the later open beta, not the current closed beta.

Game lists it for pre-order but it's not clear if it's a normal pre-order or the specific pre-order package and goodies.

I got my CE preorder from play.com
i think you only get into the beta if you got the collectors edition and you get a 5 day head start when the game goes live wooo and 12 exsclusive heads :eek:
if you orderd of play.com you will get your beta invite when the next beta phase starts i think !

Picked up my pre-order box from gamestop in mullingar today. €14.99 and it comes with the beta key's and details on how to avail of all of the bits.

Still gonna buy the collectors edition I've pre-ordered from play aswell cause I'm greedy!!

edit: just a note to the mods of boards... why am I seeing everyone marked as moderator under there name? me thinks something is broken!

Went in paid €14.99 got my little skinny DVD box warhammer pre-order pack.. comes with the beta key and details on the items you get and where to go to get them when its all setup and available. no its not a joke..

Ring gamestop in mullingar if you dont believe me.

What's the process with Gamestop to convert the pre-order into a full CE at release?

I asked the guy in the shop if I needed to leave contact details, and he said no, so I'm guessing I'll just bring the pre-order box along with me when the time comes to pick up the full release, to prove I have an actual pre order.

I expect I'll sort out the actual details closer to the release date.

Edit - I can take a wander in tomorrow and ask, the shop is 5 minutes from where I work.

I cancelled my play.com preorder since I doubt they were going to honour it. I got one of the pre-order packs from Gamestop. When asked about the final release they didn't know and admitted their billing system didn't list the final release edition yet. They said to check back this Friday when they should have an answer.

I just checked Play.com and on the page for the Collectors Edition, it now says it's available for people with UK or Eire billing addresses, so it looks like they still ship over here.

I also notice that it doesn't say if you get a months free subscription to the game, which I thought was pretty much a standard for MMORPG's these days.

I've been signed up on the war-europe site for ages, but looking at my account there I can't see any way to enter the beta codes. Am I overlooking something, or do I need to sign up elsewhere?

That site is for the US beta, they won't ever work there. The EU version only allows access to the EU servers, and similarly for the US edition.

Open beta in this case means no NDA rather than open to anyone.

One thing I heard was that there may not be an open beta in the sense of download the client and off you go. It may be that only those with the CE beta codes will get that open beta stage access.

Not sure if that will be the case or not, but its the current rumour.

I assumed that that's exactly what it will be. There'll be plenty of places to get the codes, but you'll still have to have one to get access.

I wonder if there will be an open beta in the sense we see a lot of these days, where you can just download the client and log on. Maybe the last minute stress test of the servers, to see if it will handle however many hundred thousand you get on an open beta these days?

The CE's and their pre-orders are limited to 55000 for Europe, so if they want more testers than that it can't be restricted to pre-order people only.

The stress test could be separate to the rest of the open beta though, that was what I was suggesting. There could be, for sake of arguement, a month long open beta, then a weekend of stress testing, at which point everyone and their dog can download the client and give it a try, hopefully then prompting them to go out and buy the normal edition and sign up to play.

I remeber I played an Alpha version of WAR at Comic Con in Sand Diego last summer.

I was great fun being a Ork Choppa beating up Drawf engineers.

I could'nt really get into it cause there were a load of Uber Geeks on my team giving out to me cause I wasnt as L337 as them.

But the Dev team were nice explaining how different issues were going to be addressed.

I liked WOW but I loved playing AC on Darktide. I Love PVP and I can't wait to see how WAR turns out.

No idea on a stress test but the open beta just means the NDA will be lifted so info and vids on the game are "open" for all to see. Will still be invitation only but will be much looser than the current closed beta on who gets in.


I hope, I need to play this game as soon as possible. Any word on the next convention near Ireland WAR will be at?

I remember my first proper introduction to Pvp in AC. I was in a group (10-20) of low lvl people new to the game who used to hang round a outpost away from town and all the high lvlers. Every once in a while we would swarm a mid lvl guy in the hope we would pillage what ever gear he dropped. Worked for about 3 days and I got some loot but then the high lvl's in town realised what was going and 2 of them came an killed us all. The Horror... the horror....

Best fun I ever had gettting own'd.

It's all on their site. You do get an open beta key with your pre-order, they just haven't set a date for it yet. And you're right it is open as in no NDA, rather than every man and his dog. Don't know about stress tests HH, it seems unlikely but you never know

You guys know that GOA (who have the European licence for WAR) are here in Dublin right? They're hiring too

HMV are the retail partner for the UK, it's Gamestop in Ireland. Online it's play.com for both the UK and Ireland.

I was in Gamestop on Henry St. yesterday and they had at least one copy anyway. €14.99. I decided not to get it, as i dont think i want to play the Beta. I'm going to hold off for the full release i think.
