Treadmill woes

    HI All
I got a Reebok I RUN treadmill about 8 months ago. And its great and all. And i've been using it (some weeks more than others!!) but anyway...its only lately now I've been getting a few niggly pains in my left knee.

When I initially got it I used it for running. BUt in the last 2 months i've been using it only for walking. 3 miles x 4 - 5 times a week.

Anyway i don't want to do myself any damage. And I've never had a problem with this knee before. Should I be wearing a support when I'm on the treadmill?

I really don't want to have to give up using it, its my only form of exercise and I know that I wouldn't be able to do half as much if I had to go to a gym / head outside for exercise.

    :)

    What shoes are you wearing??

You should probably talk to a physio.

    mizuno running shoes.
Got them about a year ago. they're in fairly good shape. I bought them from my local sports shop and specifically asked for something that could withstand high impact training. She suggested these.

As said already get the knee looked at by either your Doctor or a Physiotherapist, best not to take chances with these things.

Just before Christmas I went over on my right ankle playing football, thought it would be OK after some rest but when I went back in early January I went over on it again and did some ligament damage. Took me 8 weeks to get it right.

Until you see a professional all I can say is R.I.C.E.

    Rest
    Ice
    Compression
    Elevation

I'd also recommend the trip to the Physio, had been doing a lot of running myself and my knee was just getting worse until I went to the Physio, good as new now.

You're better off nipping it in the bud as it can get pretty severe the longer it goes on...
