Apparently a movie version of the A-Team is set to be released in June 2009.

Casting hasn't been announced yet but apparently Ice Cube is favorite to play B.A. and Woody Harrelson as Murdock. What do ppl think about possible casting for this movie and its chance of being decent?

I would like to see Ving Rhymes as B.A., Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) as Faceman, Jim Carrey as Murdock and George Clooney as Hannibal.

This would be cool if true but I heard they were making an A-team remake for the first time about 9 or 10 years ago so I wouldn't hold my breath anymore. But here's hoping all the same!

    No, No, No and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The only thing I can think of that is worse than this idea is the Magnum PI movie that is due. Matthew McConaughey is being mooted to play Magnum, with Steve Zahn as Rick, Tyrese Gibson as T.C., and William H. Macy as Higgins.

Oh well at least the boxset of Season seven of Magnum is out at the end of the month to keep me happy.

Terrible idea to make a film of such a classic Tv show with such strong characters.
I honestly cant see it working unless they do a complete reinvention.

I pity the Fool who was in Boyz n the Hood...

I really hope that this stays in the realm of vapourware.
It'd be far too easy to mess this film up.

    I hope this never happens.

Unless bruce campbell gets a part!!

I dont wanna see no rapper or r&b loser playing B.A.
    Jim Carey is no murdoch!

I know someone who can play faceman though.... :D

Would not like to see this go ahead, just wouldn't feel right going to see it. Would be too hard to get the right chemistry that we have seen before back again.

I hope they don't do an A-Team Movie. There have been rumours for years, but thankfully they've remained just that.

No one will get the humour and theme of the A-Team. I really hope this is just another false alarm and they forget the stupid idea of doing a movie and instead start reshowing the original episodes ;)

They'll make the movie alright - shur they are in the middle of making the knight rider movie and they made dukes of hazard......so why not the A-team?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, come on - open your mind to it - you might even enjoy it.

I personally like Ice Cube as an actor, although he does tend to either be in comdeies targeted at black americans or those crappy family films where he deals with trouble children :/ . I thaught he was deadly in Boyz in Da Hood... but tbh B.A. can only ever be Mr.T in my eyes... and judging by the snickers ads, Mr.T could very well be still up for some action!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 412 ✭✭gordon_gekko

hanibal = george clooney , that ones a no brainer
face = rob lowe , enough of a pretty boy
b.a = ice cube or else ving rhames
murdoch = well theres only one choice really , jim carrey was born for this role

i can think of something worse, they are doing a NEW carry on movie, with russel f*cking brand!

back on topic, i dont think they should do an a-team movie, no one is going to do a good BA, especially ice cube (hell they might aswell just get MR T to do it! while eating a snickers)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,969 ✭✭✭robby^5

I seriously dont see any reason they wouldnt cast Mr.T as B.A again, he's become of these 80's hero icons along with Chuck Norris and the like, theres pulling power with him on the bill, and lets face it the guy hasnt aged that badly, I can still see him running around kicking ass and pitying fools... and i demand more tanks and snickers.

On a side note, but related to older actors reprising their roles in favour of new younger actors, Clint Eastwood is set to play Dirty Harry again, cant wait ;)

so BA would play BA and the other live guys wouldn't, i guess that might be ok, I mean the role was written for him wasn't it?

    murdoch hasn't been seen enough

hannibal was a cool guy who was always on top of things ala clooney in oceans 11 or clooney in almost anything
the a team movie would have to have a tongue in cheek , guys having fun kinda vibe to it , ala clooney and the gang in the oceans movies

hes the obvious choice but mel gibson would be a great choice too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

I reckon Mel Gibson would be a decent enough Hannibal

If anything he'd make a better murdock.

Ice Cube would be perfect for BA.

For a suggestion Perhaps they could reuinite the cast of Three Kings and have

    George Clooney = Hannibal
    Ice Cube = BA
    Mark Wahlberg = Face
    Spike Jonze = Murdock

    ^ no no no!

    ok here are my suggestions:

    Hannibal: Harrison Ford
B.A.: Anthony Anderson or Don Cheadle
Face: Bruce Campbell or Ryan Reynolds
Murdoch: Bruce Campbell or will ferrell

    Hannibal: Bruce Campbell

    Murdoch: Bruce Campbell

    See what I did there?

I've heard a few rumours over the past while about the movie.

I'd hate to see any 'known' actors play the roles of the characters, because then people would just be going to see it to see how the big names fit into the role. Mel Gibson, Jim Carey, all these names have been chucked about for years as potentials for the roles, but I don't think they're right for it at all.

Also, the major rumour going around at the moment is that Face actually turns on the team and rats them out so he's let out of jail early. Apparently it's all set in Iraq. Murdock, who apparently has been diagnosed with a mental illness (even though he never was in the series) is held in a separate part of the same prison. BA, Hannibal and Murdock all break out and go in search of Face for revenge. What a muppet of a storyline

If they did a movie, I'd like for Hannibal to have died, and the original actors be brought back in their roles for the funeral and for some sort of newage mercenaries to seek them out for help.

youll never get a job as a casting producer

hanibal = clooney or gibson , no one else comes close
    face = rob lowe

You cant have clooney or gibson as hannibal. It just wouldnt work! hannibal is supposed to be charasmatic for being a believable leader not for being a roide for the ladies!!!

Rob lowe, no he doesnt have appeal.

Ving Rhames is a good choice for BA actually.

Who said Will Ferrill for Murdoch??????

If he is in it, it will end up being a complete farce, akin to the starsky and hutch remake, Charlies angels remake etc. I want a serious(ish) movie. I basically want oceans eleven - wit, style, class, explosions etc. Not another daft remake that ends up being a pi55 take rather than a remake. Is it that modern writers just dont get the jokes from the 80's, so they have to over embellish everything?

There are 2 ways to make this movie: Going Batman Begins/Casino Royale/Oceans 11 with it. As in taking the genre back to the beginning and updating the script to fit in with the times. For example, for the opening sequence show them breaking out of the stockade in Baghdad in GW1 ~1991. Then move forward to today.

The other way to make the movie is the typical 80's remake: Bikini clad babes everywhere you look, cheesy lines, daft plot, and completely unbelievable themes. I like a babe in a bikini as much as the next guy, but when you know they have been put in there to stop people leaving the cinema, it is embarassing.

    My Suggestions for the cast:

Clooney ala Oceans 11 for Hannibal
Mr T / Ice Cube ala Xxx for BA
Josh Holloway / Mark Whalberg ala 3 kings for Face
Jim Carrey ala Pet Detective / Mel Gibson ala Lethal Weapon for Murdock

Hurray!!!! finally some-one with sense :D

I like your thinking. Though, I still prefer my way of killing off Hannibal and bringing the original actors in as mentors to some new age type of mercenary group. No one could possibly play the characters better than the original three (well four, but three now ;)) and I'd hate to see anyone else attempt to take on the roles.

If Ferrell is restrained aka Old School then he might be able to pull it off.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Clooney has never blown me away and as for rob lowe....

hollywood doesnt make our classic tv shows like we remember, hence all the trouble with knight rider.

Jerry Lewis is the original Jiim Carrey.

I don't know why so many people think Carrey would be a good choice for HM?

First of all he wouldn't do it cos he'd have to be the star of any franchise movie and second of all his mere OTT on-screen presence would destroy the balance of team.

Best to give the role to someone off the radar or an unknown.

    +1

I loved the A Team and would love to see a movie but would be worried they do to it what was done to miami vice, basically this turning out to be 4 lads cruisin in a van kickin shíte outta bad dudes. Clooney for me would be a bad move i would rather see campbell in the role then him.

(i wonder will it be iraq rather then 'nam then if they do "modernise" it?)

why does people think starsky and Hutch was so bad ?I enjoyed it , for a comedy it was good.Going dark does not mean good eg Miami Vice or Daredevil, either way Mel Gibson sounds right to me as does Carey ,hate the thought of Ice Cube just seems so wrong bring back Mr T!

yes ur right, it was a good comedy....but for a remake it shouldnt have been an out and out comedy! thats not a correct remake imo (i know technically its not a remake one being a movie and one being a tv show but you know what i mean)

I'd heard that Three Kings started out as a script for an A-Team movie but was rejected, they made it into a movie unrelated to the franchise.

    Actor....................Three Kings.....................The A-Team
George Clooney ..... Maj. Archie Gates ...........John Smith (Hannibal)
Mark Wahlberg ...... Sfc. Troy Barlow ............Templeton Peck (Faceman)
Ice Cube ............. SSgt. Chief Elgin ............Bosco Barachas (BA)
Spike Jonze ... ....... Pfc. Conrad Vig .............Henry Murdoch (Howling Mad Murdoch)

To be fair, Pigman got there first with this.

Its a strong cast, having seen the movie, the chemistry works.

Also, age wise, for an active special forces unit (or a recently active one) - You'd want younger guys playing the roles. You're not going to have a unit of 4 guys in their mod 40's (any special forces guys I've met out in bars are all early 30's at the oldest).
