Nintendo club stars > Wii Points

    Hi,

Has anyone managed to successfully convert there Nintendo club stars into Wii Points?

The option is on the Nintendo club website. I use the link and log in but they say that they have zero available Wii points. This is strange as they are not a tangible item. I only got the Wii at the weekend so I wonder if they need to validate my stars first before the Wii poins will show up.

    Anyone encounter this themselves?

    +1

it's an absolute joke. just keep checking back and eventually they'll have some but then there's also the problem of only being able to buy one card per day.

I've a load of points ready to be converted and only managed to get 200 points for my stars the first day they were selling them, now they are sold out all the bloody time. Absolutely ridiculous that there is a limit to a digital item.

Took me about a month of trying to redeem all my points. The smaller ones are nearly worse than nothing, since you need like eight of them to actually buy anything.

Nintendo's club store is also a joke. I know you should never expect anything for free but when I registered my system software they promised me a free gift for cashing in my 'stars' which are relative to the cost of your Nintendo related purchase. Some games didnt register on their system and those that did gave me some points...except the keyrings were sold out last Jan, and theyre still sold out, alongside everything else on that site!

I managed to convert 8400 stars to 2100 points over the space of a week or so (26/12 - 02/01). 1x500, 5x300, 1x100. Still not done anything with them. Was going to get Super Metroid and Super Mario World, but I'll see what WiiWare is like first.

I tried to sign in with my old Nintendo VIP log in details... but it doesn't seem to accept it.... Did they get rid of the old accounts?

They deleted old unused accounts some time back, before they updated the site...
They had sent out emails imforming of the impending deletion if you did not verify your account too...

Oh yay... thanks Nintendo... great way to reward those who were with you during the dark days of the Gamecube.

Did you not get the email last June? Some new Privacy Policy they wanted everyone to agree with by July, or account deactivation. Basically they wanted to put a time limit (1 year) on how long you could hold on to your star points.

Please review our new Privacy Policy by clicking on this link http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/home/index.do and logging in to your account. Once you have read the information on that page, please use the appropriate buttons to either ACCEPT or DECLINE this new Privacy Policy.

Please note that if we haven’t received your answer by July 15, 2007, or if you choose to DECLINE our new Privacy Policy, you will from that day onwards no longer be able to use your Stars in the Stars Catalogue, as we will be forced to deactivate your Nintendo membership. No matter what you decide, you can still use your Stars and enjoy all the other benefits of the Nintendo membership account until July 15, 2007.

Also note that when you continue your Nintendo membership, from now on your Stars will automatically expire 24 months after they were added to your profile. Stars you have earned before the introduction of the new Terms and Conditions expire 12 months after the introduction of the new Terms and Conditions, which will not occur until June 1, 2008.

However, you will soon be able to swap your Stars for Wii Points in the Stars Catalogue if you linked your Wii Shop Channel account to your online Nintendo membership.

We look forward to seeing you again on our website soon, and hope you will enjoy the new generation in videogaming together with us!

Man this stars to points conversion is a joke. I spent ages waiting for a 500 point card to appear so i can pick up the Internet browser (which should be free, thanks nintendo) and nothing but 100's came up... so then out of frustration I decided that I would buy four of the 100's completely forgetting that You can only buy one card a day.... Nintendo are obviously making this difficult so it wont be used too much... I mean why couldnt it be a limit of say a thousand points a day or something....

    :mad:absolutely head wrecking..

The damn points just seem to disappear before you get a chance to make the conversion.

The Wii Points Card Shop is momentarily closed due to maintenance work. Please come back later. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Hopefully sorting their sh!t out, but somehow I doubt it...

Everytime I get to that screen, I click on purchase and then it kicks me back to the login screen again. Sometimes I have to put in my password 4 or 5 times before it actually lets me log in at all. :(
    Anyone else have that problem?

1000s are all gone - only 100s left

I just bought the Wii last weekend. Tried to register with Club Nintendo, using the code that was with the console, to no avail, and then tried the one that came with Wii Sports, to no avail. That's bollocks if you ask me. There's no reason why they shouldn't work.

You just have to keep trying and trying. Eventually it will work.

Are these points cards up at random times? You don't get any notification do you?

Is there anywhere that sells the cards.

yeah they're just up at random times you just have to check the site regularly to convert your stars into points.
    ScumLord wrote:

yeah you can buy them in most gaming shops afaik, e.g. Game, Gamestop, etc.

you can also buy them from the Internet Shop Channel on the Wii with your Credit Card.

Finally managed trade in all my stars for points. A process slightly swifter than continental drift but at least I got it done before they expired in June.

still nothing has arrived and not one reply to a single email, so i emailed Nintendo in the US and the response i got from them was that it's nothing to do with them , thats some way to treat a customer !

received this today, not a great answer:
    Dear Customer,

    Thank you for your email.

Sorry for the delay in the reply but we have been looking into ways to come to a resolution to your query (and similar queries from other customers).

In regards to your product not yet arriving there are a few changes currently in development which will give you greater ability to track the product you have ordered through your Club Nintendo account.

It may be the case that in several circumstances the product has not arrived due to problems with the supplied address, stock problems or general error – in regards to this, the changes in development will give you the chance to amend details or even cancel your order (which will then refund your stars points to your account). You could then re-order the item which should then go ahead smoothly, as the first time of ordering, something may have gone awry.

If you have any further questions please feel free to email back. There isn’t a guaranteed timeframe for when these changes will occur, but it should be in place as of the first week of May.

    Kind regards,

    Your Nintendo Team

i dont understand how they can be "sold out" its not like they have to actually send you anything! they are not a tangible item!

It means their generosity has sold out and they only have a certain amount they want to give away each month.

Its limited number because your star points expire after a while and they want to screw people over as much as possible especailly in Europe.

The only positive is at least they are giving us something (if your lucky that is)!
